-Connor's POV-
"What happened? With the case?" I ask after a moment.

Hank sighed sitting back down. "I don't have all the details, but other you is smart. He got away."

I frowned; that was to be expected, I'm pretty sure we both know how to get out of tight situations.

"Not only is he smart, he is stronger than me, faster than me, and I think at least part of him is bulletproof.." I state sitting up more in the bed, feeling a little defeated.

"Yeah, I saw. You put four rounds in his chest, he didn't even flinch." Hank replied shaking his head.

I didn't reply, and a comfortable yet worried silence fell between us. I pulled myself to the edge of the bed with my working arm, dangling my legs off the side.

"C-can we go home?" I ask after a moment looking back up to the lieutenant.

Hank turned to me, "Well, if you think you're ready to leave.. then yeah. I guess that's fine." He shrugged, standing from his chair. I knew he probably wanted to leave, and I honestly did to.

I am still in my dirty, thirium stained clothes, though the stains were no longer blue and just left my clothes sticky and dry with the invisible stains. I slide off the bed standing to my feet. My dead arm hung from my shoulder loosely. One of the nurses had given me a sling to keep it out my way till they fix it, but I hadn't put it on yet.

Instead, I grabbed my arm and held it with my other hand. I shifted on my feet and turned to Hank, who was watching me from across the room.

I smiled slightly, though I could see the hints off worry on his face, "Let's get out of here." I remark, and he nods, I walk across the room and we leave, entering the hall.

The hallway is filled with heavy artificial light and bustling with a small amount of people, android and human. We were in the main human recovery section. Hank put his arm around my shoulders leading me down the hall. Thankful for his guidance I lean on him slightly as we walk. I watched the people walking up and down the hall, all different varieties of emotions on there faces, mainly worry, fear, and anxiety. It put a unnatural heaviness in the air; I couldn't quite understand how.

We turned the corner, Hank leading me down another hall, and we pass a desk and move into the android repair wing.

This section of the hospital was small and new, and mainly used for androids that needed basic repairs- new arms, faulty thirium values, things like that. There were only a few on staff; a older man smiled at me from behind his desk looking rather bored. I nodded slightly in return as we headed for the exit.

However, before we left I met eyes with a woman. She had a worried face and hurried a few steps toward us.

"Hey! Hey it's you." She walked over speaking to me.

Hank gave me a glance, I shrugged. I didn't know her.

"I'll get the car." Hank said to me, I nodded.

Hank left though the automatic doors behind us and I turned back to the woman giving her my attention.

"Sorry. You-you don't know me. My name is Sarah, Sarah Mills, I-I wanted to thank you." The woman gestured as she shakily spoke. She had deep red hair framing a pale freckled face.

"What for?" I asked, perplexed.

"You saved a woman today, an android. She was my... she is my fiancé."

Woman?- the woman from Cyberlife tower.?!

"She lived?" I ask, not stoping the question before it left my mouth.

"Yes. Her system went dead, but they managed to save her memory chip, they are repairing her body now."

"Wow.." That was good news, first I'd had all day.

"Thank you so much. Sh-she means so much to me." The human looked my face over and I could see it in her red eyes that she'd been crying. She cleared her throat and took a breath. "..B-before she left for work, we had gotten into this fight-big fight.. It was over the smallest thing.- I just... I don't know what I would have done if... if the last thing I said to her.. was, the last thing I said to her." A tear rolled down from her eye, and her voice cracked slightly as she explained her story. She looked down at the floor.

"It didn't matter, what you said to her." I spoke now placing my only hand gently on her shoulder, "-before she lost consciousness she told me to tell you she loved you. No matter what she had said."

With this the woman sobbed and I found her arms quickly around me in a hug and she shed a few tears into my shoulder. I was startled at first by her closeness, but I put my arm around her gently. After a moment the woman straightened, lifting herself from me, taking a breath.

"T-thank you. I...needed to hear that." She said recovering herself with a quiet apology for the hug.

I gave her a small empathetic smile. Her pale green eyes sparkled with tears. "I-I should go back to Emily.." She said almost reluctantly. "You- you should go to your friend." She gestured to the car in the lot outside.

I nodded, I honestly felt a little bad for her as she seemed all alone. She took a step back from me, and began to turn away.

"Sarah," I regained her attention, "You'll make it though this." Her eyes widen slightly as my words sunk in.

She blinked, then nodded in agreement. "I will. Have a good night." She said solemnly with the smallest smile.

I nod in return. "Good night."

I turned and left the hospital as she walked the other way. Hank's old car is waiting for me, and I get into the passenger side with a quiet sigh.

The drive home was quiet and music-less, which was fine by me. Both of us had a lot on our mind. I looked out the window at the many buildings of Detroit.

When we reached the welcome porch steps of home,  I was promptly attacked by fluffy Sumo as we entered, and dog paws clawed unharmfully at my torso. I steadied myself on the wall petting Sumo with my free hand chuckling quietly.

"Good boy Sumo." I smile at the dog, and it hops down from me jumping up to Hank, who is already making his way down the hall to the kitchen undoubtably in his way to get a beer, which I wouldn't bother stopping him from.

I was just glad to be home.
