-Hank's POV-
"Are you sure you can do work today?" I asked watching Connor fiddle with the sling around his neck, walking into the kitchen."Of course." He nodded, and I knew I couldn't talk him out of it, "There is a killer on the lose, and we need to track him down." He concluded.
I sighed giving up. He just looked.. tired, if that's even possible for an android. He has always been the energy in my life, it was beyond odd to see my friend who never sleeps look so exhausted.
Connor walked across the room picking up his jacket that hung by the door. As I made my way through the kitchen I watched as he struggled to get the jacket over his shoulders with one arm.
"Here, let me help." I walked over, and reluctantly he lets me take the jacket and I hold it so he can slide his working arm in the sleeve. I knew he didn't like feeling helpless.
"Thanks." He replied quietly to my help as he pulled the rest of the jacket over his shoulder, not bothering to put the sleeve on his non functional arm.
I gave a shrug. "Let's go get this fucking guy then." I declared swinging open the door.
"Yeah." Connor agreed, and we both headed to the car.
-Connor's POV-
I trudged to the car sliding into the passenger side. Hank started the engine and we pull out of the driveway.I watched Sumo playing inside the fence as we passed the yard. We exited the street, and I turned back to Hank.
"What else do we know about the case?" I decided to inquire.
"I know as much as you do, probably less honestly." Hank mumbled as he turned the car down the road.
I looked at the cars on the road, "Well he must be hunting 'deviants', and working off his source coding still."
"Well, that's every fucking android now."
"Exactly, Every android he sees he will try to kill; Someone with his skill, strength, and abilities would not struggle with such a execution."
"Jesus." Hank exclaimed as the car rolled down the street.
It wasn't long before we reached the station. As we entered I was greeted by the eyes of several officers. Hank and I strolled to our desks and and I sat down in mine. Android officer Charles walked up to my desk after a moment.
"I heard about what happened. I'm glad you made it back alright." He spoke kindly with the smallest glint of cybernetic worry behind his eyes.
"Me to." Said Officer Chelsea Burdaiga, a tall gentle, yet stern woman, added as she walked up behind Charles with a pleasant smile on her face.
I smiled back. "Thank you for the concern. I'm glad to be back." I gave a brief response, not quite up to socializing.
"Well, all you missed is us running our asses off after this look alike of yours." Charles exclaimed with hand gestures of frustration.
My eyes went from Charles to Chelsea. "What are the leads?"
"Well.. the good news is we got a facial recognition on east 16th street in the early morning, and we've got patrols on high alert in the area." Charles began.
"We also got 3 stolen vehicles that just might fit the bill for our suspect." Burdaiga concluded, though it sounding so me like they were grasping at straws.
"Good. What about tracking? Have we tried the old servers?- he is still running off his source code, so his tracker should still be active." I worked in my question quickly.
Charles shook his head, "Not with this one Sir, we tried all Cyberlife frequencies.- What ever he is working under, it is off the grid."
"Alright-Alright, what else is there?" I questioned.
Charles and Chelsea exchanged a look. Officer Burdaiga opened her mouth to speak but was promptly interrupted by Capitan Foweller who stomped out of his office with a stack of files and slammed them down onto a table by his office doors causing almost every head to turn.
"Men." He spoke with a frustration ridden tone,"Over the past 12 hours I have had 14 homicides created by the same man. " He began, and officers drew around listening to the commanders words. " All of his victims are androids or witnesses, he leaves no fingerprints, no witnesses alive, and no evidence but the body.- He nearly took down one of my best officers two days ago!" Foweller gestured to me with his words and I fidgeted with my limp arm uncomfortably. "Of this I'm sure you all aware." He continued, "-But! I've got FBI and the Android association breathing down my neck and nothing but a 3 second street cam clip to show for it!- Marcus himself contacted me over the 12 android victims- He has declared the case 'top priority' and we will be designating a task force to putting this RK900 behind bars!" The crowd nodded in agreement.
"Connor." The captain turned to me, "I want you and Lieutenant Anderson and the center of this at all times. I'm putting you in charge."
I nodded, and as the other assignments were given I began my work.
The game was on.
