-Connors POV-
"Cyberlife tower? Why there? It's been empty since the revolution." Hank questioned my statement."Actually, teams of cyber miners often try to recover information from the deleted Cyberlife files: blueprints, blue blood mixes, software.. things like that. And they sell the info for money."
"Huh." Hank nodded, "But, how is that important to the case?"
"Android criminals tend to stay close to the scene of the crime, while humans tend to flee and get as far away as possible. If our killer was an android, he may have decided to hide here." I answered.
"Why there? Most androids hate that place, I bet.." Hank spoke.
"I.. I have a hunch, lieutenant." I say as we trudge down the beach in the direction of the tower.
"Oh? The android is trusting his gut! He really is a fucking new form of life." Hank laughed to himself hitting my back playfully. I chuckled along slightly looking at the sand under my shoes.
"There is something I don't get though.." Hank spoke, "Why? The couple he killed; they were good people, they worked 9-5, volunteered when they could, neither of them have a history of violence or had problems with anyone since the revolution..Maybe it didn't every matter who they were.." He spoke his thoughts as we walked down the beach toward the tower.
"The killer must not have seemed threatening as the victims saw him from a ways off. Do you think we are dealing with the start of a serial killer, Hank?" I followed his logic, as we reach the old cyberlife road Hank lifted up the gate and I stepped underneath.
"Android serial killer, Now that's a thought I didn't think I'd have.." Hank made a face as he followed me through the gate dropping the barrier behind us. "-But that's what the evidence says."
We walked the remaining stretch of land in a brisk yet comfortable silence.
"Well we'll either catch a serial killer, or a bunch of data mining trespassers, so I guess it's a win win." I said playfully as we reach the base of the great tower.
It was a spiral of old steel and broken and clouded windows, it was covered in graffiti at its base, and the door was busted off its hinges, and was hanging to the wall desperately. I walked over and pushed it aside entering the building, leaving the door open behind me.
A jolt of confusing code ran though my internal server giving me the android equivalent of a shiver running down my spin. I paused for a moment as Hank entered behind me.
"Well. It's been a while since we've been here, huh, Connor." He stated admiring the space for a moment.
I didn't know what I was expecting, but the black tile floors and glass and steel walls looked so hauntingly familiar it was almost scary. The only light in the space came from the windows, as there was no electricity. A large collection of brown dead plants stood withered in the center of the space, and serval elevators were against the walls.
"You Alright?" Hank asked turning back to look at me, as we both realized I was yet to move.
I blinked, "Y-yeah, Sorry." I turned and walked over behind the main counter at the front. My hands faded of color as I interfaced with the aging tech. I digitally rewired the remaining electricity from the infinity generators to the elevators and emergency lights.
A glass elevator moved down from one of the top floors. "Oh. That's handy." Hank remarked.
I smiled slightly walking over with him toward the elevator, "Since there is over 400 floors I think it's better we aren't in the stairs."
"Well I suppose you want a 'thank you', then, huh??" Hank teased.
I shot him a playful glare as we entered the elevator.
"Speaking of which, with so many floors, How the hell are we actually suppose to find people." Hank commented.
"Just leave that to me lieutenant." I said placing my hand on the elevator panel as it faded of skin. I pulled up its record and selected the last traveled to floor.
"-voice recognition required-" Said the elevator panel.
"Well shit. They need voice recognition for there fucking elevator!" Hank complained.
I smirked, flipping though and opening a very, very old audio file. I leaned into the panel tapping the button and speaking in a modified voice "Agent 54 level 41."
The elevator hummed to live and the glass door shut us in. I turned to Hank to see his reaction.
"Fuck. I didn't know you could do that!" He seemed both impressed and unnerved.
"It was a new feature cyberlife was playing with. When they made my prototype model." I leaned against the elevator wall as I fiddled with a coin in my fingers. "I believe I'm the only model that can. It has only barely come in handy."
"So you can sound like anyone??" Hank questioned.
"Technically I can sound like anything- if I've heard it, or if I can pull an audio file from online." I replied spinning the coin on the tip of my index finger.
"Fuck! Do a meme!!!" Hank blurted out.
"Excuse me?" I looked at him catching the coin in my palm.
"It's- It's a thing..Really old, just look it up and do a voice! Come on!!"
-Hank's POV-
I watch Connors eyes shift to the ground then he looks up locking his eyes with my own. "Are you feeling it now Mr. Crabs?" (AN:Just imagine Connor saying that like spongebob though lol... why am I like this...)I lost it. That made my day. I crack up with laughter simply receiving a look of confusion from Connor.
"I.. I don't get it?" He stats watching me.
"Y-you wouldn't." I reply laughing.
The elevator stops and I am still chuckling looking at the ground trying to collect myself, but the more I think about it the funnier it gets in my brain.. I continued to chuckle.
"Lieutenant." Connor spoke.
"I know- I know- just giv-"
"No lieutenant." He interrupted me sounding more urgent. I look up, witnessing the grim scene my eyes meet as they look out through the elevator door.
"Oh....fuck." There is three bodies, blood of both colors everywhere.
