Do you like the childhood best friend trope? Do you like the sexy steel champion? Well you're in luck because this is a Steven Stone x Reader! STORYTIME from a fellow fander!

You were sitting on the edge of Mossdeep city. There wasn't a beach, just a small cliff over the roaring ocean waves. Mossdeep was the childhood home of Steven Stone, the current champion of Hoenn. His family lives here, his friends grew up with him here, and those friends and family miss him very much.

You were one of those friends, almost family. You grew up right next to Steven Stone and were cast the role of his best friend. You were with him when he found that lost Beldum, you were with him when he discovered his passion for Pokémon battles, you met Wallace right next to Steven. Yeah, you two lived your life together.

Let me rephrase that. Early life. The day after he turned ten he left Mossdeep city to go around the region on his Pokémon journey. At first you and Wallace went with him. You couldn't keep up and they left you behind. Next thing you know, three years later, Steven and Wallace are in the Elite Four!

Time Skip to about two years after that. Steven took down the Champion and became the new champion of Hoenn. Wallace got bumped down to a simple Gym Leader. The only reason he wasn't knocked down entirely is because Steven was there to support him.

So your two best friends were two of the most important men in Hoenn. That leaves us with a question. Whatever happened to that third friend who went on the journey with them? Well. That third kid was sitting on the edge of Mossdeep city with a Pokémon egg in their arms and a deep sense of loneliness filling their being. You let out a deep sigh.

"Oh Steven. If only I could keep up. Maybe I'd be standing there with you and Wallace in the Pokémon Leauge."

Speaking to yourself. A side affect of both grief, loneliness, and clinging to the past. Diagnosed by your friendly neighborhood brain. Gee, thanks brain. You hugged the egg. You didn't even know what Pokémon was incubating inside. No matter what Pokémon it is, you'd love it anyways.

"You won't get to know him, most likely. Sorry little Pokémon. But I wish you could. He was the kindest, most passionate, most considerate person ever. He used to be my best friend! You would have loved him."

You took the jacket you brought with you and wrapped the egg in it. It wasnt cold, but you were a little paranoid about taking good care of it. It was the last wish of your father beforehand he passed away after all. You smiled at the egg, then at the sun as it slowly sets on the horizon. A small breeze below behind you.

"I think everybody loves him. No matter who or where you are. Everyone in the Hoenn Region loves him. I know I do too. It's Steven Stone! Well, thanks for listening yet-to-be-born-Pokémon. You really are the best therapist in Mossdeep."

You stood up, cradling the egg like a baby with the jacket over it like a blanket. You looked down at it. If it were human or born yet, you doubt you would be able to get this off your chest. But it's a Pokémon Egg. It's not like it can reply. It's not like it can hear you.

But do you want to know who can hear you? A man with platinum hair was hididng behind a building with a rose in hand And his heart beating fast. There was a reason he came back home after so long, and it was you.

He never should have left you behind.

Only six hundred words!? GOD DANG IT WHY AM I NO GOOD!? I'm so sorry you have to deal with my terrible writing.
