COLUMBUS

I did my very best to avoid Sab. But she was so persistent of bringing us back. It's been two months since the class started but still nothing much has changed. I am still the aloof guy. But my being aloof caused more problem.

Girls started to notice me. Not just those girls from my class but even from other sections and even from other courses. At the same time, the guys too. They kept on throwing me looks as sharp as daggers. Worse case scenario? I would end fighting them.

Believe me, I've been sent to disciplinary office because of those fights. But there were always witnesses to prove that I was not the one who started those fights. But rather, I just defended my self from being bullied.

I was taken back when someone tapped my shoulder. It was one of my guy classmate. I looked up to face him because he was standing.

"Dude, someone's looking at you." He pointed the door of the room. I was surprised to see my brother-in-law standing there with his expensive suit and tie.

Then suddenly I realized that most of the people inside the room was staring at him. Nog to mention the girls who are drooling and talking about him. He raised his hand and smiled when he saw me looking at him.

"Thanks." I said to the guy who informed me about my sudden visitor.

"Kuya." I greeted him with a smile.

"Hey. Uhm can we talk somewhere else? People are staring at me. It's kinda creeping me out." It's funny that it came from him who should be used to those kind of stares. Remember, he used to be so famous with women because of his looks and money. Not to mention that he was named before as the Hottest Casanova.

We settled at the library.

"What brings you here kuya?" He was sitting comfortable at the wooden chair with his elbows leaning on the table while clasping his hands.

I think I know the answer to my question. His posture means business.

"I'm here to ask you a favor." Now the tone of his voice strengthened my conclusion. Aside from his posture, his tone means business too.

"Spill it out." I leaned backwards and crossed my arms. Signalling him that yes, I am willing to listen to whatever he was about to say.

I went back to the classroom for my next subject. It didn't take us long to settle about my brother-in-law's proposal. But I admit that I hesitated doing it for a second because there's this idea inside my head that it was not yet the right time. On the other hand, I thought that why do it later when I can do it now. Besides it was long over due.

I tried not to sleep in my second class although I was feeling sleepy. My eyes were heavy that it was so hard to stop my eyelids from closing. The professor was a good lecturer but then his way o teaching was boring. And the way he talked, it was like he's singing a lullaby trying us to send to sleep.

Clenching my jaw became a habit because I did it whenever I see Sab. Just like now. She's leaning at the railings of the hallway in front of my room. She smiled at me the moment she saw me at the door.

"Hi!" She waved her hand and smiled. A big smile that used to be my weakness. Her wide smile that always showed her set of perfect white teeth. She looked like a toothpaste endorser whenever she smiles.

I didn't respond to her greeting and walked pass through her. Then suddenly I felt a hand slipped between my rib cage and arm. She clung her hand into my arm. What the hell! Is she that desperate?

I was about to remover her hand when she said something that made me stop. "Today's my birthday. Can you give this to me as a birthday gift?"

There was something in her voice that ached me. Yes it was evident that she was pleading. Begging. Something inside me was stirred up. I knew by her voice that she's hurting. I knew it.
