Garroth didn't come to school the next day.

I felt waves of guilt clouding my mind, and yet, I felt free. I want to apologise to Garroth, but for what? For not liking him? That sounds strange..

I saw Laurence sitting at our usual hang out spot for lunch. His eyes sparkled as he waved at me, gleaming. I smiled back, before returning into a small frown.

He shot me a look of concern as I approached him, taking a seat down in front of him.

"What's up?" He asked.

"Nothing," I responded, biting into my sandwich.

"You know..you can tell me anything, right?" He sighed.

"I- I know.." I'll tell you soon, Laurence.

"Then tell me, are you okay? Is it something to do with Garroth?" Laurence queried.

I nodded hesitantly. Laurences concerned face faded into a slightly sad one.

You should tell him, tell him everything.

This was your chance, your chance to tell Laurence how much you love him.

You can't waste time any longer.

"Look..Laurence, I'm not dating Garroth anymore and..I think you deserve to know this."

"W-what!?"

"You're already aware I'm rich..and, I'm thankful you're still here, with me, despite it. People usually avoid me because I think I'm some kind of snob."

"Silly, of course I'd be your friend no matter what,"

Friend.

"Well..you see..my father and Garroths father, Garte, wanted me and Garroth to date you see...and, I was close to being put into the Lovers Lane magazine with him. I managed to convince my father to break up the relationship, I didn't like him in the first place."

"O- oh...wow. I'm so sorry that happened..." Laurence stood up from his seat, walking towards me. He gently hugged me from the side.

God, you're making this harder to say, dumbass.

"Well..Garroth hasn't taken the canceling of our break-up well. He knew I didn't like him.

"Ah..I could kinda tell you didn't either, honestly," Laurence pulled me closer.

My cheeks reddened.

"Yeah..so..the reason I broke up with Garroth, was more than just not liking him. There's more to it. The truth is, Laurence, I—"

The bell rung, obviously. Such great timing.

"Tell me later, okay?" Laurence stood up, patting me on the head.

I let out a sigh, of relief, and also annoyance. I was so close to telling him how I truly felt. I shook my head, slapping both my cheeks. You got this next time, Y/N.

...

Gene smirked, going over the recording of what he'd just seen.

"This is going to be fucking perfect, haha. She's some bitchy rich kid, and she's just broken up with Garroth and is clearly trying to get with Laurence now. What a whore.."

"Oi, Gene, we can't include the part where she talks about not liking Garroth in the first place though, and that the relationship was arranged. It won't be good gossip," Zenix pointed out.

"True..I'll have to edit the audio a bit at home, but get a load of this picture! He's totally hugging her. Haha" Gene giggled.

"Garroth's gonna hate her guts when he finds out about this, huh?" Sasha asked.

"He sure is. Let Ivy know I got some good information," Gene smiled sadistically at the phone, staring at the image of Y/N and Laurence hugging.

"This is gonna be a lot of fun, won't it, Laurence?"
