Chapter Thirty Two || Asia’s POV

Published: 18th of July, 2014

***A/N Here it is FINALLY - the long awaited Asia POV! I don’t really know that much about Asia and also she’s supposed to be ten in this story and I honestly can’t remember what I was like when I was ten, so it was kinda hard to write, but I hope it’s okay! Since this story is about ten chapters from being finished I’m trying to include all the POVs that I haven’t used much. There will be one or two for each of these characters: Mackenzie, Kendall, Mia, Nia, Maddie, Brooke, Autie, and Sophia. They have been much requested and the others have had a lot of chapters, so these are the ones that I’ve chosen! Enjoy xoxo***

The dinner bell rings at about 7:30. It’s midsummer and SO hot and the heat is almost oppressive. You can smell barbecue smoke from the gardens of people’s houses around the school and most people have been to the river and are coming back with wet hair in bikinis and shorts.

Mackenzie, Nia, Sophia and Mia are doing back handsprings along the grass down the running track. Mackenzie’s managed 100 metres and Sophia did an amazing 175! Brooke and her friends Alexandra and Anna Rose are hanging out with the boys and some of their other friends at the wooden picnic tables, telling jokes and laughing. It truly feels like summer.

Maddie, Paige, Chloe and Autumn went down to the river about three hours ago. I’m not sure what happened to Maddie’s date, but considering how happy she looked when she left I guess it wasn’t that bad, whatever it was.

I join the dinner queue with Kenzie and wonder what disgusting thing they’ll be serving us today. Surprisingly, when we get there, it doesn’t look that bad. There’s a salad bar and a sandwich bar and they’re got a mini freezer out, with ice lollies. We’re allowed to sit wherever in the school grounds, as long as it’s outside. This is what summer is truly about.

I’m picking out my ice lolly and trying to choose between mango and cherry, when I hear Mackenzie behind me say, “Woahhh…” And it’s not a good woah. It’s a bad woah.

I turn around, worried, and get the shock of my life. Maddie, Chloe, Autumn and Paige have come into the courtyard. The whole queue is looking at them. Because they look completely different to how they look when they left for the river early this afternoon.

Maddie’s long hair is messy and she’s wearing a braided leather string around it. There are red streaks in it too. When on earth did that happen?! They’re all wearing what their parents (and usually them too) would deem completely inappropriate to wear outside the dance studio- incredibly short shorts and crop tops. When I look closer, I notice that Autie has newly pierced ears.

They casually walk over and join the queue, well aware of the people staring.

“Hey, Kenz,” Maddie says calmly.

“Maddie, what did you do?”

“We decided that it was time to grow up,” Maddie replies.
