"So, dv tops and black jeans, basically." Charlotte said, over the phone to Lily.
She lay down on her bed.
"Okay, okay." Lily said, who was now rummaging in her cupboard for the best pair of black jeans.
Charlotte sighed. Butterflies swarmed in her stomach as she thought of meeting her idols. And Pel. Especially Perri.
"I hope you don't mind that Freya and Janice are coming. We're all VIP..." Lily said.
"No- I don't mind." Charlotte said.
"Okay, get ready. I'll pick you up in my car. You should really get your license-"
"Whatever, Lily."
Charlotte cut the call off and let her hair fall down to her waist. She was wearing the outfit she had suggested to Lily. Why had she waited till she was seventeen to meet her idols? Did she not have the courage?
She walked into her bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. Her green dip dye at the ends of her long brown hair complimented her emerald earrings. She wasn't trying to impress diversity. Not even popular Freya and Janice who were considered the ruling dv fam of her school. She just couldn't wait to see them face to face.
She accompanied her look with some dark eyeliner and black boots.
"Mum- Lilly's here. I'm going!" She called, as soon as she heard Lily's car.
"Have fun!" Her mother shouted. "Come straight home after-"
She didn't hear the rest of her Mum's words. She closed the door, embarrassed.
"Sorry..." She said, turning to Lily and taking a seat next to her best friend, who was driving. Lily was a dirty blonde with rosy cheeks.
"What's with the dv tops?" Freya asked, who was sitting behind with her friend, Janice.
"Yes- Diversity are going to think we're desperate." Janice sighed, rolling her eyes.
The two blondes giggles and Lily rolled her eyes as she drove.
"Why did you let them come?" Charlotte whispered to Lily, with gritted teeth.
"Sorry." Lily whispered back. "They're popular-"
"So what?"
Lily just kept her eyes on the road. The 02 car park sign dawned above them and soon they were out of the car.
"I swear we're already late..." Freya mumbled, walking briskly. "Charlotte should have hurried up."
Excitement spreaded all over their faces as they linked arms. But Charlotte felt like an outsider for some reason. Not only that she was the odd brunette, but she felt like deep down, she was the only one who truly knew what diversity meant to them.
As they walked in, a woman was asking if there were anymore VIP's waiting.
"Us four are..." Lily said, gesturing.
"Oh- you're the last ones then." The lady said.
The four girls walked in, smiling and giggling. And there they were. Diversity. Well, seven of them. Charlotte was the first one to be addressed by Ashley.
"Hello!" He said.
Ashley didn't know it but it made her heart skip a beat. She handed him her tour programme.
"To Charlotte..." Charlotte said, smiling and blushing all at the same time.
She had such a good time, going through and meeting all of the boys. She came to Mitch, just before she was supposed to come to Perri.
