The next day Talika waltzed into my room, without knocking. Bags and boxes were carried in by assistants behind him and slowly created a mountain in my room.
"Good mornin hun, I broot your new skeins!" He motioned me over with a wave of his hand, before plunging the same hand within the bag on his arm. Pulling out a piece of white and ice blue fabric, he held it up to my chest with a 'try it on' before digging through the other boxes. It was a nice fabric, not too heavy but not too flowy. I unzipped the back before tugging it over my head.
An assistant helped me zip up the shirt which fit snugly, fitting my chest like a glove. It was a white shirt cropped right below my ribs, showing of my abdominals. It had no sleeves at all, but the icy blue neckline wrapped around my throat like a necklace, only connected to the shirt by three strips of cloth in the front, which created a bisected triangle. Silver and shiny white snowflakes decorated the white parts of the shirt.
I was handed more accessories which were applied to my body by Talika and his assistants. By the time he was done, furs, chains, and belts decorated my figure. Rather than normal sleeves, a long detached sleeve covered my right arm, held up by an azure belt tightened at my bicep. Two similar blue belts were tightened around the left bicep. Furred forearm guards warmed my arms. Both had white fur but the left side was longer, sectioned into three pieces by strips of icy blue leather. The other side was more of a furred bracelet, a single strip with fur on either side. They matched the furred pauldrons which sat upon my shoulders an azure chain running across my chest from one side to the other.
A waist-cloth was wrapped around where my tail met my torso. It wrapped around in a pale blue before tieing and draped down in a faded white, snowflakes decorated the edge of the bottom. Above the waist-cloth sat three blue studded belts, which matched the belts of the sleeves. Another similar belt crossed my chest, crossing over my right shoulder before buckling where the shirt ended on my left side. An azure blue leather choker finished the look with a silver snowflake sitting in the cave between my clavicles. All in all, I looked good.
After Talika and his attendants were finished with my clothes, they all took the time to look me over. "You look amazin!" Talika shrieked, his hands held up to his face in happiness.
"Yeah, it looks really good Talika. I never thought I would look in leather and chains." He burst into laughter at that.
"Ya mon. I did well for meself." He patted himself on the shoulders. He explained to me that, it looked good but also allowed for movement. The belts could be used to house weapons, the furred shoulders were armored, and the waist-cloth also acted as a cloak or cape and was able to hide swords. He left after explaining where the hidden pockets were, and Ashleigh entered a few minutes later.
"Wow! That looks really good on you Frost." I thanked her and began following her out to meet Adhira. We started the same way, as usual, warm-ups and stretches before swimming around the track.
"We are doing something different today, instead of using weapons, we'll use magic." I looked at her, still breathing hard from the swim, but nodded with a faint 'alright' passing my lips. She motioned to follow and led me to an enclosed area, practice dummies scattered the area. "You told me once that you threw a spear of ice into the chest of a man. I want you to do it again." She pointed her thumb behind her.
With a nod, I summoned an ice spear, like I did before. It wasn't anything special, a simple pole about two and a half meters in length with a pointed end, but it was hard and strong. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and snapped my eyes open throwing the spear. Just like before, it hit the dummy dead in the chest. I smiled slightly turning to Adhira. She frowned, her eyebrows raised, impressed.
"Impressive. For someone without any training. Just like when you fight, you have raw talent, a talent that needs to be reforged." So she spent the rest of the day making me do simple spells.
The first task she gave me was to encase the practice dummies in solid ice like I had done with Mars. "Face your target." She started, her voice booming through the space. "Focus your energy, imagine the water around them freezing completely solid." I did as I was told. My mind clearing to the point where I could visualize the water freezing. I smiled, when I opened my eyes the dummy in front of me was a single block of ice. "That's the true power of a Master, the elements will do anything we want so long as we can imagine it. Think of your element as a soldier, tell it to do something and it will obey, however, they have a mind of their own, in a good way. If you are knocked out, your element acts like a guardian and will protect you. Slingers have to learn to bend elements to their will, we simply ask. Make sense?"
I looked at her with a smile. "You know Master Adhira, you are a really good teacher, Talon was worried since you use lightning rather than ice. Not only that but you are a lot nicer than I originally thought. Wait, that sounded rude." I blushed at the way that came out, but it only made her laugh.
"I have been through many battles and I have trained many students, including Prince Talon, but I've never had someone tell me that. Thank you, Frost. You are a good student, but I can see what you mean. All of my scars and my voice are a little intimidating, huh?" She smiled and ruffled my hair a bit. "But don't forget that I am a general within Her Majesty's military, and I didn't get there by being nice. I'm hard on my students because that's what works. So if I whack you, just know I have my reasons." With that, she turned back towards the dummies with a single 'again' and a smile.
She dismissed me four hours later. I was expecting to be sore in one place or another, but I wasn't, just tired. Adhira made me do simple tasks, make this, freeze that, encase that in ice. The hardest thing she made me do was to encase myself in a protective shell of ice, acting like armor, while she hit me a few times. I trudged back to my room, half awake and desperate for my bed. My eyes were glued to the floor and didn't see the person who appeared in front of me until I bumped into them with an 'oof'.
"I'm sorry." I apologized looking at the person I ran into, Siamak.
Instead of getting mad at me he simply patted himself down and smiled. "Frost just the person I was looking for." A part of me said something was wrong.
