Six months had passed since Orion and Navis left behind their human lives to live with me. It took a month or two for Orion and Leora to feel comfortable around each other, which wasn't surprising. Although I don't think he sees me as his father if anything he treats me more like a brother, and I don't blame him. I don't think my son will ever see me as his father, but I'm alright with that.
Alto and Navis stayed at Glacier Falls until Alto found his own place. Much like Glacier Falls, it was out of town and towards the edge of Atlantria's bubble. It was a rustically styled mansion made almost completely out of wood. Navis calls it a 'log cabin on steroids' and he wasn't entirely wrong. The two of them called it Shark Grove, a suiting name for a home for them.
Talon had met up with Xion again, and thanks to some magic, she was able to speak with Silinia. I don't know exactly what the two women spoke about, but Talon summarized it. He said that they came to an agreement that Xion and Talon would be allowed to be friends, and that he could visit, so long as they don't fall in love and he doesn't stay for long. Which was good. They could still be friends and he often visited her.
One day, about two months ago, he came to Glacier Falls with a mermaid on his arm. She was beautiful with long curly raven black hair, with streaks of green and silver running through it. Her skin was tanned from the sun and made her neon green eyes stand out. Her tail was leaf green with leaf-shaped fins. She even wore leaves through her hair, a water lily vine around her tail and a seaweed belt. Her name was Damia and she was an elemental master of sea flora, which contrasted with Talon's fire, but materu's are materu's. They left with the hope that Silinia would like her, he proposed a month later.
Leora and I went out on several dates and truly fell in love. She was incredibly shy but loved tasting different foods from around the world. She never, not once, blamed or hated me for being with Emma, and having a child with her. She was a true romantic who loved going to the theatre, and thankfully I did too. Sometimes she would transform into her draconian form and we would fly above the clouds, she even showed me her pegasus form once. However most of the time she and I would just stay home to enjoy the other's company.
Today was different though. Today was the day I would take Leora to be my wife. Silinia opened her throne room and even helped decorate. Now here I was in a black tailcoat, white shirt and ice blue vest, waiting for my beautiful bride to float down the aisle. All of our friends we here, Talon, Damia, Alto, Navis, Kylin, Calia, Mimi, Lucy, Talika, Jupiter and Venus all sat and watched. Orion stood at my side as my best man, he knew I loved her and he was happy for me. Leviathan acted as Leora's maid of honor and stood in all of her godly glory. Siamak acted as officiant, as he was the head foresighter.
Then the music started and Leora came down the aisle wearing a flowing white dress. It was an off-the-shoulder dress. The skirt draped on either side without anything in the middle and looked as if they were a pair of wings that drooped on either side of her tail. White feathers decorated her hair while pearls adorned her wrists and neck and a bouquet of white lilies was clutched in her hands. King Gareth walked her down the aisle like any good father and bowed to me as he passed me her hand. She stood to face me with a blushing smile.
"Are we ready to begin?" Siamak asked and we nodded. "We have gathered here today to witness the binding of these two souls who are bound by the strings of fate. These two have overcome so many obstacles on their own, but from henceforth they must face challenges together. Although I highly doubt any challenge will be greater than facing off against the goddess of the seas." He chuckled. "Unlike the humans, we mer do not make vows publicly, these are things that must be made together in the safety of each other's arms. There is, however, an exchanging of rings, although the rings are symbolic, as they represent your souls. May I have the rings."
Sai held out his hands to Orion and Leviathan who gently placed the beautiful rings onto his palms. He handed me Leora's ring first, which was a beautiful silver in the shape of leafed branches with a single small ice blue diamond in the center. "Repeat after me. I give you this ring as a reminder."
I looked deep into her lavender eyes as I spoke. "I give you this ring as a reminder."
"A reminder that through thick and thin, I will be at your side,"
"A reminder that through thick and thin, I will be at your side,"
"to carry you through the fire or to hold you through the pain."
"to carry you through the fire or to hold you through the pain."
Siamak nodded and I placed the dainty ring on her finger. Siamak handed her my ring, which was a simple silver band with a stripe of blue opal down the center. She repeated the same words just loud enough for the others to hear. "I give you this ring as a reminder. A reminder that through thick and thin, I will be at your side, to carry you through the fire or to hold you through the pain." She placed the ring on my finger with a gentle smile on her lips.
"With those words, you have exchanged souls, and have vowed to be one rather than two individuals. Now all that's left are the 'I do's'. " He turned to Leora with a smile. "Leora, do you take the Siren Frost as your husband? To love, to honor and to keep by your side as long as you both shall live, which by the way is a long time?" Quiet chuckles waved through the crowd.
"I do." She smiled looking deep in my eyes.
"Frost, do you take the High Princess Leora as your wife? To love, to honor, and to keep by your side, so long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
"Then by my power and the power of the gods, I pronounce you man and wife! You may kiss your bride." He bowed before slipping away. I didn't hesitate as we both leaned in for our bonding kiss. It was gentle and quick but full of the love that we would share for eternity.
The afterparty was as fun as you would expect, full of booze and laughter. I was sipping on a champagne flute, watching my wife speak to her brother when I felt two arms wrap around my shoulders. I didn't even have to look to know that it was my brothers.
"That was a beautiful ceremony Frost, you looked so happy I swore I was going to cry." Talon laughed.
"I just hope mine will be as nice when I finally marry Navis. I'm going to propose tonight. Is that's alright with you brother?" Alto pulled out a simple jet black band with a small grin.
"First off he's my grandson, not my son, speak with his father, but I don't have a problem. I just hope it goes well." I lightly punched him on the shoulder.
"Why do I suddenly feel like an old man. Ugh!" Talon groaned I laughed at the obvious jab.
"Well, let's see, we went across the entire U.S., fought the goddess of the sea, got back, found love and all within a year. It feels like a lifetime." Alto counted off of his fingers.
"All of that, and now I'm the high prince." I scratched my temple, just thinking about what that truly meant. I didn't remember much, just the name Nash Hall and pitch black water. Yet it was there that my memory started, there, where not even sunlight could reach. "And to think I'm nothing more than a Siren of the Titanic."
