I woke up, groggy and sore. I was surrounded by white, blue and bright lights, making me flinch when I opened my eyes. That's right, I'm dead, this must be the afterlife. But I was sore, why was I sore? I sat up and looked around, my eyes finally adjusting to the light. The room was familiar, walls painted like a snowy forest and lighted icicles. This was my room in the High King's Temple. So I wasn't dead then.

I shifted grabbing my blanket and tried to pull it off, however, only the left side moved. I looked and my eyes widened. That's right, Calder had taken my right hand to his grave. It was healed so it was no longer an open wound but more of a stub. It was strange, I could still feel as if my hand were there but it wasn't. Is this what my son felt when he lost his leg?

I sighed and pulled my blankets off so I could examine my gut wound. It too was healed, but a nasty jagged scar cut across my stomach. I touched it, amazed at the fact that I wasn't dead. I was still examining myself when my door opened and a familiar face came in.

Her white hair was pulled back into a braided bun, but she still wore a lab coat over her dress. It was Lucy, she smiled wide when she saw that I was awake. She waltzed over to my side, her coat floating.

"Glad to see you're finally awake. You had all of us worried sick, especially Talon. I swear if I hadn't kicked his ass out, he'd still be at your bedside." She rolled her eyes with a laugh, which made me chuckle a bit. It hurt though, and I had to grasp my stomach, gasping slightly. She leaned over and placed her hands on my scar, massaging it slightly. Her hand began to glow, a warmth seeping down into my muscles, which felt really good.

"You almost died, Frost. You would have if it hadn't been for Leviathan. She healed you enough that you wouldn't bleed out. You owe her." She smiled and held out her hand. I held out my right side but quickly pulled it away, forgetting. I took her hand with my left, and she helped me out of bed. I stood there staring at my stub, trying to come to terms with my loss. Lucy patted me on the shoulder a gentle smile on her face.

"How's Talon? I saw him get bitten. Is he ok?" I turned to her, more worried about his wound.

"Did you not hear what I said. I had to kick his ass out of your room so, yeah he's alive, and not to bad off. I had to give him stitches but that's about it. You were my main patient. Stop worrying." She ruffled my hair. "When you're ready, everyone's down in the food hall waiting for you. Would you like me to give them a head's up or do you want to surprise them?" I told her to surprise them and that I would be down in a minute. She nodded and left me to my thoughts.

I sat on the bed staring at my stub of a hand. It was one thing knowing someone without a limb, but being one was entirely different. It was as if a piece of me was gone but its ghost was still there. I began thinking of my son and his false leg, remembering the story that Ethan told me of when he left it in the bathroom. I laughed at the memory, but it gave me an idea.

I focused on my stub. Slowly the water became colder, and eventually, a crystal-like hand appeared attached to my stub. If my son could have a fake leg, I could have a fake hand. I mean why not, right? I couldn't feel with it, but I could control it like a true hand, or I could change its shape to whatever I wanted. I shifted it into a blade which would be good if I ever needed an emergency weapon. This could work. Smiling I stood and left, closing the door behind me with my new icy hand.

I slowly made my way down to the food hall. I crossed through the courtyard but hesitated at the entryway. I took a deep breath and peeked in. Everyone was gathered at the main table. Alto and Talon sat next to Lucy while Leora and Kylin sat in front of them. I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I was startled and quickly turned around, my hand covering my mouth.

It was Leviathan. She smiled at me, her teeth perfectly white behind blue lips. She looked exactly as she did in my visions of her. Her skin a beautiful sky blue, with navy blue hair which had streaks of azure and baby blue. Her golden eyes were striking against her skin and were clearly visible since her hair was pulled into a loose high bun. She motioned for me to follow her, and we began a slow swim. I followed her outside of the temple and we simply circled the outside of the walls.

"I wanted to thank you, Frost. You saved me from that wretch of a man. I had always loved him, he seemed so kind, but he wasn't. I was a foolish little girl, and you paid for it. I hope you can forgive me." She looked down at the ground.

"It's alright, Lady Leviathan. I got hurt because of my own mistake. If I had focused on Calder, I wouldn't have gotten hurt. Speaking of which, Calder wasn't the man you fell in love with. You fell in love with his twin brother. Calder knew that and killed his brother and stole his identity. You were tricked." I looked at her. Her eyes were wide, her jaw almost to the floor.

"Are you serious!" She slapped herself on the forehead. "I mated with my mate's brother!" She sunk down to her knees, groaning.

"You mated with him?" I smirked at her, half joking.

"Yes! That bastard." She whined, reminding me of a child. She and I talked about many things as we strolled around the outskirts of the temple. Turned out that she actually had a child with Calder, before he controlled her. That mer still lived somewhere in the oceans, and she hoped to one day find him. We eventually circled back around and headed back inside. Once again we stood outside of the entryway to the food hall. For some reason I was nervous, but with a gentle pat on the shoulder from Leviathan, I walked in.

Talon was the first to see me. His expression turned from sorrow to excitement as he rushed to pull me into a bear hug. Alto soon followed suit, and I just hugged them back, happy to be with my brothers again. They pulled away and I saw Leora standing in front of me. She had bags under her eyes much like my brothers, telling me that they haven't slept. I smiled at her and held out my arms to her. She was pulled into them like a magnet, and I held her gently.

"I'm so happy you're awake, Frost." She whispered into my skin.

"I am too." I pulled her away and pushed her bangs aside, so I could look into her lavender eyes. "Now I have the time to properly romance and woo you." I gave her a gentle kiss and a smile. She nodded, a silvery blue blush creeping onto her face. I looked over to Kylin and gave him a big hug too. We all sat down and chatted. They almost immediately noticed my ice hand.

"Bet you got the idea from your son, huh?" Talon said jokingly, giving my shoulder a light shove.

"Yeah, besides I think it looks nice, don't you?" I winked at them with a smile. Leora, however, looked at me, shock crossing her face.

"You have a son?" She cocked her head at me.

"Yes, and grandchildren. Did we not tell you this?" Her eyes went wide as she shook her head. "I had a lover before I became a siren. It was because of her death that I even exist as a mer. My son is named after me, Nathaniel James, he has three children of his own, one of which is Alto's materu. I could've sworn I told you this." She looked hurt at first but bobbed her head with acceptance. "Speaking of which, I have yet to meet him. The three of us met with Daniel, Ethan, and Natalie but I didn't get to see him. I wonder what he would think of me. By the way where's Gareth?" I looked around, noticing that he wasn't apart of our group.

"He went off tuh see the wourld. He's been soo cooped up in here that he hasn't a seen ze rest of the light of day in years." Kylin explained. I nodded, I couldn't imagine being under house arrest all those years.

We spent the rest of the day talking about different things. I lay down that night, happy with the outcome of our journey, but something still bugged me. I wanted to see him, so I hatched up a plan. The next morning I went up to Leviathan, who was about to leave on a journey of her own. Searching for her own son.

"Hey Leviathan, I have a question for you." She looked up at me from packing her bag and smiled.

"Yes, how can I help you."

"I need a favor." I smirked, a twinkle in my eye.
