Frost and I looked at each other and nodded before Alto and I raced off after Leviathan. Our plan was for us to keep her busy while Frost took care of Calder. A bubble of doubt was still stuck in my throat but I trusted my friend, and I would risk life and limb to protect him.

She was fast, faster than even Alto's torpedo-like body could keep up with. Thankfully though she was going to the surface which meant we didn't have to worry about the weight of the water in the trench. She was as graceful as a dolphin as she breached the water. Alto and I summoned our weapons. Alto shot at her a couple of times with his bow trying to draw her attention, when that didn't work, I used the whip that Calia gave me. I cracked the long whip towards her direction, that's when her crimson eyes finally locked onto us.

She raced at us, her long finned tail pushing her through the water faster than my sharky friend. Her teeth were long and could easily cut through flesh, and here they were trying to snap me in two. The sounds of metal on ice resounded over and over again, like a smith at his anvil. Frost had this, I couldn't worry about him right now, I needed to focus on the dragon.

She let out a loud roar and charged at me like a bull. I couldn't stand my ground. I dodged trying to escape her jaws and claws. I wasn't fast enough though, because I felt a searing hot pain in my shoulder, and I howled in pain. Sure enough, the damn dragon had me by my shoulder. I snarled at her as she threw me from side to side and rolled like a gator. Alto shot at her armored body, trying to get her attention. Clearing my head from the blinding pain, I shot a fireball down her gullet, and thankfully she let go. Thankfully, I still had my arm.

I raised my scythe ready to cut her across the face when it all stopped. She blinked. Her eyes turning from scarlet into a beautiful golden. Her scales lightened in color no longer were they deep midnight, but now a beautiful day sky blue. Even her tail changed from a crescent moon shaped fin to one of a simple forked fin.

She transformed from her dragon self into her mermaid form. Her eyes wide as she looked to see Calder's decapitated form slumping down into the waters. Frost turned towards us, his eyes not really seeing us. I rushed to him and held him in my arms.

He was in bad shape. His right hand was cut off from the wrist, and a bloody hole was torn into his gut and out through his back, only missing his spine by an inch. His left hand grasped at his necklace and his eyes shut.

"Don't you die on me, Frost! You fucking promised me you wouldn't. So don't you fucking dare!" I felt my eyes water, but unlike Frost's, they were lost to the ocean. Leviathan came up behind us, tears watering her eyes.

"Let me see him." She murmured, her arms held out. I growled at her holding him closer.

"Don't you fucking touch him!" I snarled, seething between teeth. Alto grabbed my shoulder, a sad look on his face.

"Let her see him, what more could she do?" He was right of course, she wasn't bad anymore, no longer being controlled. I reluctantly held him out but didn't let go of him. She ran her hands across his abdomen and his wrist, mumbling, maybe singing. Slowly his wounds began to close, stopping the bleeding, but not completely healed.

A roar made us flinch. It had come from above the waters, so we went to investigate. I carried my brother bridal style as we made our way to the surface. Soaring above the clouds was a snowy white dragon. Unlike Leviathan, her wings were feathered with silvery white feathers with lavender iridescence. The same shade of purple covered the bottom of her belly, tail, and feet. White and lavender colored feathers covered her back and neck where fins or spikes would be. Lavender horns sprouted from her head but a single white spiraled horn sat in the middle of her forehead.

She landed in the water as graceful as a swan. "Quickly hop on!" It was Leora, I almost smacked myself for not realizing it sooner. I gently tossed Frost across her back before flopping on as well. Alto and Leviathan quickly jumped on as well. With a roar, she raised out of the water and we soared high into the sky. Clouds soared past us as we rode on the dragon's back, tails tossed to the side like a princess on a horse.

Leora turned her head to look back at us. "How is he?" Her eyes were worried but she kept flying.

I pressed my fingers to his neck and smiled when I felt a pulse. "He's still alive, thankfully. He's just anemic." I smiled at her. She pulled back her scaled lips in what I'm guessing to be a smile. Frost continued to sleep as we flew across the waters, before finally diving down into Dean's Blue Hole. We held tight as Leora raced through the tunnel like a snake before finally landing in the temple courtyard.

We all swam off of Leora's back while she transformed in a flash of light. I still clutched Frost tightly to my chest but passed him to Leora's open arms, who quickly swam off to his room. King Gareth came out of nowhere, his beard flowing as he swam. He straightened his back and lifted his chin, looking down his nose at his sister. Leviathan bowed lowly, her head resting on her hands which were flat on the floor.

"Forgive me, Brother. I have no excuse for my actions." Her voice shook either from fear or from sadness. Gareth only sighed before mirroring her bow.

"No, please forgive me for not realizing that you were being controlled. If I had not been blind maybe I could've saved you myself, instead of making you suffer." It was almost painful watching them.

I cleared my throat, getting their attention. "As much as I love seeing a family reunion, I want to know if my brother will be healed. He severely needs healing." The two of them rose from their bows and nodded.

"Yes, you are right, dear Prince. Kylin has already come back with a healer. You need to see her as well Talon." Right on cue, I began to feel light-headed, and damn near fell. If Alto hadn't put his arm around me I would've. I had completely forgotten about the bite that Leviathan gave me. 'Just great! A new fucking scar!' I shot a look at Leviathan, who shrunk a bit, as Alto half-carried me to our old rooms.
