"That is not something I want to hear. I-I don't know what's going on, just be careful."
I took a step outside of the hall and turned my head.
No one nearby that I could see, and I couldn't hear voices or footsteps.
Which was suspicious. But I had to start walking, I had to find what I was supposed to. I wasn't even entirely sure if it was Briar but there was something I had to find.
Everything is silent.
My boots had hard soles that clicked on the ground whenever my foot fell and each step made me cringe.
"Well, not anymore it isn't," Zelda commented.
Yeah, last time I wear high heels.
She snorted. "The heels barely three inches, you call that high?"
Higher than those four's. It's because I'm shorter than them. Well, I'm the same height as Red.
"You aren't that short...."
I know I am, it's because Ganon summoned me out of the mirror at a young age and although I didn't need food or water to live, I did need it to grow.
Her voice held a tone that I recognized and hated. But she was the only friendly voice I'd probably hear for a while, so I decided it best to not snap at her. "That sounds awful. It must have been hard having to work for people like them."
Yeah, well, I'm fine. I just...spent a couple years slightly alive with the Dark Mirror's power before I had to awake Vaati, which made us both connected to the damn thing. And then I was totally alive and depended on it completely.
"But breaking it, that broke the connection?"
Yeah...I did not want to talk about that with her, but I had to ask as I darted down another hallway. Princess Zelda, you...knew about the Dark Mirror. How?
"You don't need to call me 'Princess Zelda.' I'm the only one that can hear you, and you me. There isn't any need for formalities, you are one of my friends. Treat me like one."
I've tried to kill all my friends.
"Eh, I almost died once. Anyway, the Dark Mirror...I've gotten so much information about past rulers crammed down my throat, I don't remember where I learned it. There was another mirror, went by another name, the Mirror of Twilight, where a tribe of interlopers were sealed into another world through. The Dark Mirror—As we've theorized—might be a replica of that."
What makes you think that?
"Don't you need to concentrate?"
Prince—Zelda. I've been killed a dozen times, tortured, threatened, isolated, and I really need a nap, please take my mind off of the traumatic experiences I've gone through.
"Uhm, there was a point in time where a large group of people banded together and made fearsome powerful weapons and they hurt and killed a lot of people before being sealed to another realm. They actually started a government and reproduced and made themselves a nice kingdom. As such, people who didn't have anything to do with those crimes ended up being punished for them. And then there was the King of Thieves, Ganondorf."
What?
"Yeah...the sages of that time tried to execute him but it didn't go...according to plan and they ended up just sealing him—hundreds of
years later—with those people."What could go wrong? Did they just think, "hey remember those people we made suffer for all eternity? Let's let them deal with this problem that they don't have any idea how to handle."
