"Should you even be up, you're still injured, aren't you?"

"I'm fine, it's not like I'm doing cartwheels or anything."

He looked pale still. And really weak.

I walked close to him when we went to go find the others.

I was trying to ignore my nightmare, I had had worse recently and we were in the middle of something. We had to find the others, figure out was happening.

The moment we left the house, the first thing I noticed was the sky was entirely black. I stated that in the last chapter, but I thought at first that I had slept longer than I thought. But the grass was a blood red, and it was impossible to see stars or the moon. It was dark, and I only realized the color of the grass when we managed to find light, which was a while after this.

"Damn, I can't see anything," Vio said from right next to me.

"I can't see much, either," I admitted, though I assumed what I was seeing was more than him. His legs were a bit longer than mine, he was somewhat in front of me and it was difficult to see him, but he stopped.

"Shadow, where are you?"

"I'm right here, Vio," I said, stepping closer to him.

Immediately, his hand shot out and grabbed onto mine.

"That's better, now I won't lose you." He pulled me a bit closer to him so my right hip and his left hip was pushed together, and we walked side by side. "I wish I could actually see you, I want to do much more to you than hold your hand."

He squeezed my fingers a little.

I wanted to cling to his hand; it was warm, I felt cold. His entire body was warm, I noted. Heat radiated off of him. Like too warm, he was hot and not in the way he usually was.

I pressed my fingers—the ones on the hand he wasn't holding in his vice like grip. Immediately I pulled the hand away because I might have gotten a first degree burn.

"Vio, you're burning up," I stated, halting all movement, even though he kept going and was just dragging me behind him.

"I'm fine."

"You're hot."

"Mmm...you're hot too."

"That's not what you meant!"

"I'm fine, Shadow, love."

"Hell yeah, you're fine."

"I thought that wasn't what you meant."

"It is now!"

He sighed but u caught the barest hint of a smile on his lips, his warm, soft perfect lips.

I really need to stop ogling him, I thought.

"Shadow, can you see anything, my eyes haven't adjusted to the lack of light."

I knew he wouldn't listen to me, wouldn't rest until his legs gave out. So I just glanced at our surroundings, vowing that he would always be okay and alive, and he'd be able to rest soon.

It's not too late to kill them...

I shook my head.

Because it was too late. They had grown on me. And—because of that dream?—I knew I couldn't off them for Vio. That nightmare had been so vivid, I could still feel the chill of the dark cell.

"Umm..." I couldn't see houses or anything. We had just exited our house, there should have been more houses, but when I turned around trying to see where we had come from, all I found was darkness.

"What?" I realized his hand was sweaty.

"I can't see anything, Vi... I mean, I can see, but there's nothing to see."

Vio went silent and pulled me a little closer to him, if that was even possible at this point. We kept walking, in the quiet, scary darkness that had me wondering if maybe I had gone blind was actually about to lead Vio off of a cliff or something just as bad.

Occasionally. I'd turn to see him, the outline of his face and his arm holding his side, glancing at me when he felt my gaze in him. I would assure myself I was seeing him, I wasn't blind, I saw him.

"You're eyes are beautiful," he said all of a sudden.

I didn't know how to respond.

He kept going. "They pretty much glow. I remember...when it was the middle of the night...and I caught you watching me sleep...the first thing I noticed was your eyes. The first thing I thought was 'his eyes are gorgeous.' I love them."

I hadn't ever viewed my eyes as "beautiful." If anything, I figured they were kinda freaky looking because they did glow and they used to change to a red color when I was angry. It took a while, but we both eventually saw light.

"Vio? Shadow?"
