"Was this your bad feeling? Is this why you thought I should go with them?" I didn't realize I had raised my voice, but I did.

"Shadow, love, I need you to calm down, please, everything's gonna be alr..." He gasped in pain again, coughed, looked at me with half-lidded eyes glassy with tears, how much pain was he in?

"Vio, you keep talking like you're gonna die, how deadly in a broken rib, anyway?"

"I think I broke several, and I'm starting to wonder if it pierced some organs," he said, his voice too calm for my liking.

"What happened to you, why are you...?"

"I already told you, I don't remember."

"Shit," I swore loudly. "Princess Zelda! Green! Hurry the fuck up!"

He grabbed onto my hand. "Do you remember?"

"Remember what?"

"You picked it up, didn't you?"

"Picked what up...?" I froze and pulled out the dirk.

"That's it."

I tried to calm down. "I stabbed you."

"Shadow."

"You fucking know? I fucking hurt you like this, what the hell is wrong with me?"

"Shadow, please."

"Fuck, goddesses, the whole Fire Temple execution thing was one thing, but this...this feels like something else entirely, how could I do something like this, why would I? Oh, FUCK!"

"Shadow, please, calm down, look at me."

I don't know how, but he managed to pull me closer to him, we were kissing, I felt his mouth on mine, I tasted blood in his mouth and when he let me pull away, there was a bruise on his cheek that I hadn't noticed before.

"Vio, I love you, I love you so much," I said, squeezing his hand. "Please don't... please, I can't..."

"Shadow, we found them," Green said, hopefully not hearing me.

"I don't want to alarm you, but...I think, I think Vio's dying."

I looked over at Zelda who looked really dazed and something was off about her.

"Your Highness, how long have your eyes been like that?"

Her answer was delayed. "Been like what?" On top of delayed, the words slurred together and she looked tired.

"I think you have a concussion, were you like that before?"

"Bookworm, wake up!" Blue was shouting, Red was trying to get him up too, I hadn't spared them so much as a glance, I couldn't care about them at the moment, what if my Vio died?

I unconsciously grabbed my knife, not exactly sure why. My fingers grasped air, and I couldn't find the weapon.

The dirk had disappeared.

I started panicking, and before I knew it, Zelda had also lost consciousness with Vio, her temple still bleeding and when I got closer to Vio and placed a hand over his heart, I felt no heart beat.
