"So, she's been missing for how long?" I asked, rubbing below the stitches on my arm.

"Two weeks. Briar said she'd speak with me later about her, she might know something." Green sighed.

We were all gathered in the living room, Vio was right next to me, Green sat across from me in a chair, legs crossed. Red had fallen asleep and now Blue was complaining about it.

"Why would She up and leave?" I asked. "She is the literal ruler of an entire kingdom, how much wisdom do you need to know that abandoning your kingdom isn't a good idea?"

Green sighed. "I don't know, but...maybe I'm just in denial. Maybe I want to just believe that nothing bad actually happened."

"Red, get off of me!" Blue tried to jerk his shoulder away, Red fell off and his head landed in Blue's lap.

Vio snorted and I smiled. Green seemed to be frowning over something unrelated to what was happening in the room.

I was going to get up before I noticed Vio's hand on my thigh.

I blushed and looked down at his hand, looking up his arm to see that it did connect to his shoulder beneath the purple tunic, that was actually him.

I was internally screaming.

I thought he needed to think.

He started rubbing my thigh.

Damn you, Vio.

Blue stood up and picked Red up—bridal style, one arm supporting his back and another arm supporting his legs. I nearly died.

Blue grumbled while he went to get Red inside his bedroom, Vio later informing me that they did share a room and possibly a bed.

Green opened his mouth to say something before someone started frantically knocking at the door as if trying to pound it into oblivion as quietly as possible.

Green stood up and went over.

It was Briar.

A nasty cut went over her mouth and she had blood in her hair. Violet bruises were around her throat and her dress was torn at the stomach, blood staining the cloth. Her eyes were dilated and panicked, and she was paler than before.

"Briar, What happened?"

"I don't know, the village....was attacked a-and I don't know by wh-who." She looked exhausted and I could see various bruises and cuts all over her arms and legs. "My sister....Selene, sh-sh-sh-she..."

"Fuck, where are the potions?!" Vio Shouted, already running out of the room.

Green grabbed her hand and dragged her to a chair. "Shadow, go wake up Red and Blue."

I nodded and stepped out of the room, trying to walk quickly. I just kinda stood there for awhile, beating the door to death. Eventually, I stopped to catch my breath and then heard it.

I stepped away from the door and went back out in the living room.

Briar has stopped bleeding, her minor wounds had been healed and around her torso was bandaged, her mouth cleaned up. The bruises around her neck showed no signs of disappearing. Green was trying to comfort the shaking girl, but didn't seem to be making any progress.

"What happened to Selene?" Green asked.

"She...disappeared. Again. I don't know..."

"Blue and Red?" Vio asked.

"Give then a bit."

He stared at me before understanding.

"You should really stop helping them," said the voice. "What have they done for you?"

Rescued me from the damned cell.

"Because they're idiots. They didn't know what they were doing. They were probably trying to kill you. You should be dead. Look at those stitches in your arms."

I looked down at the stitches.

"You should rip them out if your arm. You'll bleed. You'll die."

I rubbed my temples.

"Headache?" Vio asked.

"I'm fine."

He pecked me on the cheek. "Okay then." He rested his chin on my shoulder for a minute. "I love you, Shadow."

"He's lying."
