All the girls could see the Fun House from their positions, but the one closest to it was Kahless. It was necessary to have her because she could literally increase the volume of her memories. It was a nice skill to have.

"They're heading towards the tent with the park's history now," Kahless said. Mara didn't respond, knowing that Kahless needed to memorize this conversation.

Mara waited in anticipatory silence, fists clenched, before Kahless finally said, "They're going to the Fun House."

Mara breathed a sigh of relief. But it wasn't over yet. Nova still needed to not get actually killed and put on a believable act for Adrian. It was still a lot to do.

Five minutes later, Adrian ran out of the Fun House, closely followed by Nightmare. The villain aimed her gun and squeezed the trigger. Adrian flinched, but the bullet only hit between the eyes of a puppet. Mara pitied the boy, assuming that knowing nothing about the situation must scare him to pieces. It was a miracle he was still able to think clearly.

The Detonator appeared a second later, a growl present on her face. "Nightmare, you can never do anything right. You can't shoot. How can you call yourself an Anarchist if you can't even shoot one Renegade? You don't deserve to be a villain."

Mara could sense something more than just the act in her words. Ingrid was furious about that day. Ingrid did think that Nova shouldn't be an Anarchist.

Nightmare continued the banter. "You cost me a valuable resource at the library. If anyone doesn't deserve to be an Anarchist, it's you." Nova raised her gun - holding blanks, of course - and pulled the trigger. Once, twice, three times. Ingrid tipped backward into a ruin and came up a moment later covered in fake blood. Nova shot a few more times, but Ingrid just started creating a very large bomb. It kept growing and growing, until she detonated it. Nova shifted her weight, but didn't look fast enough. The bomb exploded, knocking Mara off her knees. She fell to the ground, losing sight of what was happening.

There was Ingrid's maniacal laughter, and then another - smaller - explosion.

Mara didn't want to look.
