I wake to feel the absence of Adrian's warmth next to me. My eyes open to light filling the room and the smell of breakfast as it floats in from the kitchen. I slip on his tee shirt and make my way into the kitchen.
He's standing in sweatpants hung low with nothing beneath and bare chested. He doesn't hear me come in and I quietly walk behind him, wrapping my arms around his lean hips. His body pushes back against me as my hands run down his stomach, teasingly stopping just inside his waistband. He laughs and I kiss his strong back between his shoulder blades.
He turns and leans toward me with a kiss and a smile. "God you're gorgeous in the morning, and even more so in my shirt. What're you trying to do to me?"
I lean back against the counter and he nuzzles his stubbled jaw against my neck, kissing below my ear. I let out a giggle at the pleasure before playfully pushing him away. He moves back to finish breakfast.
As I finish eating, his phone buzzes and he checks it, his face turning down into a scowl.
"What is it?"
He shakes his head shortly, putting away his phone. "Oh nothing. Just my office. They need me to come back for a little while to oversee some clients transitioning over to work with us from a competitor. Apparently they got royally screwed and he is very sensitive to who they will be working with. They want to meet in person to hammer out the details."
My face changes to one of disappointment. He reaches over, taking my hand. "I wish I didn't have to go, but this is a twenty million dollar account. We can't lose this just because I want to stay in bed with you for the rest of the month."
I laugh quietly and give him my best smile of encouragement. "No, of course not. If you have to go you have to go. How long do you think you'll be gone for?"
Adrian runs his hand through his hair, thinking. "I honestly don't know. Probably a week or two at the least to get through the contracts and marketing plan. I need to get out of here tonight for a meeting tomorrow actually."
My heart aches as I realize how much I'm going to miss him, and he catches it.
"Well, if I'm not going to be able to see that beautiful face for two weeks, I'll need to make sure we get our fill before I leave. I can't have you forgetting me while I'm gone."
He smirks before moving over to my barstool, gently pushing the plates out of the way. As if I'm light as a feather, he grabs me and sits me up onto the counter, pushing his hips in between my knees. His hands tangle into my hair and he kisses me deeply.
"I don't think that it's possible to forget you Adrian Preston." I shift against him as I feel his hands roaming down my body.
He smirks at me mischievously. "Well, one can never be too sure."
I let the wave overtake me and feel our bodies melt together in passion for a final goodbye before giving him up. Even though it's temporary, I know I'm going to miss him terribly.
As we both catch our breath, he pulls me against him and he gives me a tender kiss, filled with love and desire. "I'll hurry back as quick as I can."
I smile and kiss him goodbye before walking into the bedroom to get dressed. He begins to pack and I head over to my place to shower and get ready for the day. I head out to meet Emma for lunch, wishing I could have stayed and taken Adrian to the airport. I pull up to Kit's Café and head inside to see her already seated. Her face is buried in her phone and I walk over and sit down before she realizes I'm there.
She looks up and beams. "Oh my God she's alive! Where have you been girl? In bed with Mr. Moneybags I assume?" She winks and leans forward to listen. "I need to hear all about him. It's so annoying that I couldn't bag him that night. He hasn't been out again since, except with you on your date. Everyone was talking about it."
