At 6:00, I signed out as I took my apron off. I walked out of the grocery store, feeling jittery as I saw Luke's car turn up in the parking lot. He motioned for me to get in, and I opened the car door.

"Hey." I said, settling down in the plush seat and shutting the car door. Luke kissed me on the cheek and leaned over my lap to fasten my seat belt for me.

"Hey, yourself." He said, chuckling. He started the car.

"Where are we going?" I asked. He glanced over to where I was sitting and shot me a wicked smile that sent delicious shivers throughout my body.

"Wait and see." Then he turned his attention back to the road and I sank deep into my seat, blushing deeply. That sort of smile should be illegal in the U.S.

After 30 minutes of driving in silence, he stopped the car and turned the engine off.

"We're here." He said. Before I could open the car door, he had already unbuckled his seat belt, gotten out of the car, and opened my side for me.

Which shows you just how much of a slowpoke I really am.

"Thanks." I mumbled as he shut the door.

"You're welcome." He grinned at he. "Wait right here. Don't go anywhere." He said as he walked to the back of the car, popping open the trunk.

I surveyed my surroundings. We were outside of the woods where Kayla, Dylan, and I usually ran through to get to the lake.

"Alright, let's go." I jumped at the voice and spun around to see Luke, who was carrying a picnic basket. The same picnic basket that I had seen before, when we were sitting in the tree together. He offered me his hand and I took it, our fingers intertwining. He looked at our hands and then at me, his eyes intense. I grinned back at him and tightened my fingers around his. He raised our hands up to his lips, planting kisses on each of my fingertips. I blushed, feeling red hot sparks as he kissed each one. He lowered our hand slowly, dropping the picnic basket in his other hand to brush a lock of hair away from my face.

"Ready?" He whispered, caressing my cheek. I nodded, and he picked up the basket with his hand, the other still tangled with mine. He pulled me forward slightly by our hands to get me to follow in the direction he was walking.

We laughed and joked around on our way to the lake, especially when Luke tripped over a branch and landed on his face, causing me to laugh so hard I fell over, tears falling from my eyes.

"I'll get you for that later." He muttered, standing up and pulling me with him. I giggled while wiping away the last traces of tears from my face.

"Sure you will!" I mocked, and he chuckled.

"So, sandwich again?" I asked, trying to hold in my laughter. Luke glared at me while he handed me a sandwich.

"Ha ha, very funny. Unfortunately, I don't really know how to cook. I can barely boil water without ruining the stove." He grumbled as he bit into his sandwich. I smiled as I tested the sandwich, tasting nutella and strawberry jam. He tossed me soda, just like last time, but I actually caught it.

But, I dropped my sandwich.

"Doesn't anything ever go right whenever I try to catch something?" I grumbled as Luke burst out in laughter.

"Apparently not, but that was funny as hell." He said between chuckles.

Oh, you're gonna get it now.

"You'd better run, boy!" I said, slowly getting up. Luke shot up and started running away from me. I smiled and ran after him, enjoying the rush of adrenaline. he stopped when I chased him to the edge of the lake. He turned around to glare at me.
