*Jade*
"Jade, you are being released today," my doctor said. I smiled and looked over at Michael. I could see that we loved each other. I still felt it. I could see it in how he treated me.
"But I have some news for you both." He looked at Michael who I was still holding hands with.
"We waited to tell you this in order keep stress off both of you, but Jade... When you crashed the car - you were 3 weeks pregnant."
I took in a shaky breath and looked at Michael who looked down sadly.
"The baby obviously didn't survive," he finished.
I nodded, not knowing what else to do, "Okay."
I looked up at my mom who was smiling at me brightly and my dad who was glaring at Michael.
"Anything else?" I asked.
He shook his head, "A nurse will be in shortly to unhook you and-" he handed a clipboard to my parents. "These are her release forms."
My dad took them and sat down next to Michael and angrily filled them out.
"Dad?" I asked nervously.
He looked up at me with a forced smile.
"I know you're mad but can you please not be?"
He sighed and looked over at Michael, then back at me.
"It's just hard to hear. You're only 18..."
I nodded, "I know. I'm sorry."
Michael looked up, "I'm sorry, too."
My dad smiled and continued to fill out the forms.
"So where do I go from here?" I asked my mom. "With you guys and just go home or with Michael?"
"Sweetie, you don't even know him," she whispered. "I mean you do, but you don't right now. And you need rest a-"
"I'll take care of her," Michael said, grabbing my hand. "I'm trying to help her get her memory back and she remembers you two... I just want her to remember me."
My mom nodded, "We'll bring her to our house today and you can stay the night there. Maybe she'll remember some things if she sees the house. Then, tomorrow you two can go back to your place."
"Thank you," I whispered.
I wanted to stay with Michael. I wanted to see what it was I loved about him. I want to know him.
