Chapter 7: Promise

The birthday day came along. Alex had left the day earlier to prepare at her father’s home. When Giotto and G arrived it was just yet another aristocratic party,but with brightful decorations. Giotto held a small box in his hand.

“You actually got her a present?”G asked.

“Well she did say she would be sad if I didn’t. Besides I get you stuff for your birthday too,you know.”Giotto laughed,much to G’s amusement.

“About time you two came around!” The familiar voice. The two men turned to expect the tomboy look of Alex. Instead they found Alexis wearing a gorgeous green dress with and emerald necklace adorning her neck. Emerald earings adorned her ears as a tiara with a bright diamond flower adorned her well made hair. She was even wearing make up,which made her look much more of a girl,no, of a woman than she usually looks. Needless to say,both of the men were stunned. Alexis tilted her head a bit and laughed. “What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?”Alexis asked.

“Um…I…”G stammered,he didn’t know exactly what to say. Giotto cleared his throat,looking for the right words to say.

“You look…stunning.”Giotto smiled. He secretly wished he could see this side of her more often. How she smiled only seemed to make the room shine brighter. He handed her over the box,which Alexis gratefully took.

“Aw you actually brought me something!”Alexis laughed as she opened the box and took out its content. It was a beautiful ring similar looking to the ones they used,only that it was pink. “Ah~ It’s a vongola ring look alike!”Alexis squealed.

“You cannot ignite flames with it,but maybe now you’ll stop annoying me about it?”Giotto asked with a smile. Alexis instantly got the ring on her finger,which fit like a glove,and hugged Giotto.

“Thanks!”Alexis smiled. Giotto hugged Alexis and then took her hand,carefully kissing it.

“No problems,milady.”Giotto smiled,to which made Alexis laugh once more.

“What a wonderful sight,to see such lady smiling so brightly.” The voice ringed in Alexis’ ear as she turned to see the man,once again,in a red suit. “Happy birthday,milady.” Alexis gulped. This was the same man that had threatened to kill off the Vongola out of spite the other night.

“Thank you…um…”Alexis muttered.

“Giovanni.”The man said with a light bow. He glanced at Giotto with a glare. “I see you two know eachother.”

“Yeah! We’ve met before from time to time…”Alexis said.

“How delightful. However,I do wish to share my opinion,with this you are 20 years of age,you have come of age…I would be honored if you’d consider accepting my offer if taking your hand in matrimony.”Giovanni said,much to Giotto’s surprise. Alexis simply stared with not much reaction.

“I must kindly refuse…you aren’t my type~”Alexis kindly said. Giovanni smirked,suddenly grabbing her by the hands rather forcefully.

“You’re a strong-willed woman…do you really think I did not notice your presence the other day in the room? Even In your disguise…your scent is the same.”Giovanni muttered. Alexis stared utterly stunned. Giotto grabbed Giovanni’s hands.

“I think that’s enough for you…you’re scaring the lady.”Giotto insisted. Giovanni let go and smiled.

“Oh sure,how rude of me. I wouldn’t want to scare anymore vongola now would I?”Giovanni smirked. With that he walked away,and out of sight.

“That man…he’s so scary…!”Alexis muttered. Giotto’s eyes narrowed.

“Something’s not right.”

-a year and months later-

Months have passed,no word of Giovanni. Giotto had decided to get rid of all armaments in the manor,much to Daemon’s and Alex’s displeasure. Alex sat down on a chair infront of Giotto,who sat on his desk looking down at letters.

“I think it’s a bad idea to get rid of the weapons…”Alex insisted.

“We’ll be fine. We are a group to protect the weak,not to make people fear us.”Giotto said.

“But what happens if that fear fades?! We’ll be sitting ducks!”Alex yelled as she slammed her fist on the table. “If we don’t have the weapons,we won’t be able to protect ourselves. Just merely normal guns…but not enough however!” Giotto slammed his fist on his desk.

“The last thing I want is for my own men to fall under the influence of power.”Giotto said. Alex stood up from her chair and slammed her hands down on Giotto’s desk,glaring straight at him.

“Giotto you idiot f*ck! We can’t just not have protection after all the sh*t that has happened in the recent months! Even Daemon sees what I see. It’s…just…”Alex yelled on the top of her lungs,caching her breath while looking for the right words to say. Before she could give any more complaints,Giotto shut her up with a single kiss on the lips. There was silence in the minute long kiss before Giotto let go. Alex stared up at Giotto blushing pink. “…you’re an idiot,you kiss me but you won’t sleep with me.” Giotto chuckled.

“I don’t think I’m ready for that.”Giotto smiled as he took Alex’s hand and got their pinkies together. “I promise you,nothing will happen.”

"You better keep that promise. Tomorrow I become a real mafioso after I turn 21 tomorrow."
