Chapter Eight: Always the Bridesmaid
Daisy
***

Somehow time had gone on, despite my aversion to the happy couples around me, over the years I somehow found myself playing maid of honor or bridesmaid in more weddings than I would have liked.

First was my stint as Maid of Honor for my sister's wedding.

Then I had a couple of friends from the pack who had found their mates and didn't see any point in waiting.

I wasn't in the wedding of Christopher (Linden's roommate) but the whole family was invited to the wedding, And of course Meadow would catch the bouquet at the reception, so it wasn't too long before Linden proposed.

Having no sisters of her own, Anise and I stood as bridesmaids alongside a couple of her friends, as Meadow married our brother. And last was a cousin who I haven't seen since I was about 5 years old, asked me to also stand in her wedding.

"Your day will come." My father sounded as he glided us across the dance floor.

I snickered, "At this point I'm a professional single girl, I wouldn't even know how to act in a relationship."

He smiled, "I know these past few years haven't been kind to you...but you are a sweet and caring young lady and you have so much love to give."

I shrugged, "Maybe no one deserves my love."

"To that I can agree...no one will ever be good enough for you my girl."

I got sad with those words.

"My Mate would have been good enough."

He shook his head, "Even he wouldn't be worthy of your love...Hey there's a familiar face here." He sounded, "We should say hello."

I nodded and he expertly danced us over to the direction of the person he said he knew.

"Alpha Hugo, What a surprise." The man smiled.

He did seem a little familiar but I knew I didn't really know him.

"Ieston, it's good to see you...relation to the groom?" Dad sounded.

Ieston...he was one of the invited men to my party for alliance prospects.

"My apologizes Alpha...This is my wife Blithe, She is the grooms cousin, Blithe This is Alpha Hugo Brooks and his Daughter...-."

"Daisy." I offered with a smile as I could see The man hesitated on my name, perhaps he didn't remember me so well. "Cousin to the bride as well as bridesmaid." I said with a smile as I shook Blithe's hand. "I promise I had no choice in the dress." I said making a face indicating that I hadn't been too fond of my cousins chosen bridal party dresses.

She smiled, "Well you should've seen the one I had to wear for my best friends wedding." She laughed, "how about we grab a seat and get some drinks."

I took her up on the offer but dad declined as he had promised mom a dance and soon excused himself.

Ieston being a gentleman went to get Blithe and I drinks as we found a table.

"All joking aside, this wedding is lovely." She sounded.

I nodded, "I've been to my fairshare of weddings over the past few years and I do have to admit that I do like the laid back vibe of this wedding...it's not too stuffy, if I ever get married I'd hope I can have a chill sorta wedding."

"No mate yet?" She asked sympathetically.

It was a tone I knew well. But I pasted on a smile and shook my head with an air of nonchalance, "not quite yet I'm afraid...knowing my luck he's probably wandering around somewhere."
