Chapter Two: Sunshine & Daisies
Daisy
***

"Daisy." My sister sounded softly.

I smiled and slowly opened my eyes.

In the months of all of the party planning and preparations, time had surpassed us rather quickly.

"Happy Birthday little sister."

"I can't believe it's today." I said, anxiously now.

"Well believe it and try to enjoy everything about today ...You won't believe how fast everything seems to go once you're consumed in the fantasy of it all."

I smiled, "All I really want is to have tonight run smoothly and I know it's kind of a stretch but... I'm sort of hoping, well praying to the moon goddess really, that I  can meet my mate shortly after my first shift."

"Hey anything is possible."

I nod, "I have to admit that I'm feeling pretty antsy."

"It's your wolf." Anise filled me in. "So she isn't here yet, technically she won't come until the moon starts to shine tonight, but her traits will start to make themselves present."

"And being jittery is a trait of hers?"

She laughed a little and nodded, "Irritability is, yes...so is heightened smell and touch, clearer vision."

"It all sounds so great."

She nodded her head once again, "it really is, and once your wolf becomes a part of you, you won't know how you ever lived without her."

"Well that may be but I can tell you that all I want to do right now is go for a walk or something that gets me moving."

She gave me a small shake of her head, "You can't go out until the sun sets...remember the moon calls your wolf forward, and even though it's hard to see in the daytime, the moon is still technically in the sky, going outside during the day can cause your wolf to come forward too soon, today your body is still preparing itself for your wolf, and also shifting too soon could mean you shift alone and no one will be there to help talk you back into your human form...you stay in your wolf form too long and you'll start turning primal."

"Primal?"

"It isn't pretty." She warned. "If you go primal you will NEVER have control over your wolf even in your human form you wouldn't be able to tame her...she'd be in charge at all times, shifting whenever she wants to, making all your choices for you...most of the time Primal Weres become rogues because it's hard for a Primal Were to submit to the pack."

"Wow, I've honestly never heard of that." I admitted feeling more than a little dumb now as I thought I knew everything there was to know about Weres.

"It's not really talked about to younger members in the community because Dad doesn't want to worry them, I mean the shift is inevitable but he tries to limit their worries as much as he can."

I nodded.

"How about you hop outta bed, get freshened up and we can have breakfast, apparently Linden drove in this morning...in the meantime, I'll open up the windows throughout the house...trust me, fresh air helps with the urge to run around."

I nodded and thanked her before I did as she said and got up for the day.

I decided on having a shower to fully wake me up.

I tried to use the shower to calm down and clear my head but it didn't work in the slightest as I began to wonder a multitude of things.

'I wonder what my wolf looks like?'
'I wonder what the shift will feel like.'
'Everyone says it hurts so bad.'
'What if the pain is too unbearable?'
'Has there ever been a Were who couldn't shift?'
'I read it's much more bearable with your mate near.'
'I wonder when I'll meet my mate?'
'I wonder who he is?'
'What if I've already met him and didn't even know it?'
'What if I shift before him then I have to wait until he shifts to find him.'
'That would suck.'
'I wonder if he's shorter or taller, obviously he's going to have a good body (most Were guys do), dark features, light features, facial hair, baby face, smart, funny, kind, silent.'

The water was beginning to run cold as I stood there lost in my thoughts, I quickly washed my hair and body before I turned off the shower and got out, I toweled myself dry and wrapped the damp towel around my body as i took a wide tooth comb and let it untangle my mess of a mane.

I knew I had to get ready later and didn't want to have to wash my hair all over again so I left my hair alone of any product or heat, allowing it to air dry.

I walked into my room and grabbed fresh underclothes before putting on a pair of old jeans (that my mother hates) and paired it with any top.

Again I knew I'd have to get all dolled up later so I didn't want to fuss with a nice outfit or makeup until I absolutely had to.

I finally made my way down and was happy to find my brother already here.

"Daisy." He smiled kindly before he walked over and gave me a one armed hug.

The thing about my brother is that He's never really been super close to Anise or myself, this could be due in part that we were girls and just had a closer bond as sister, or the fact that he was essentially Dad's shadow. Then after his first shift he was sent away to begin his Alpha training for when the day comes that our father steps down and Linden assumes the role of the next Alpha of our pack. But he seemed, sweeter?

"Happy Birthday."

"Thanks, and who's this?" I asked as I noticed a young man and a pretty girl.

"Oh this is my dorm mate Christopher." He said as the guy stepped forward and shook my hand.

"Christopher Meddling of the Cornerstone Pack out East, a pleasure to make your aquaintance." He smiled, "And Happy Birthday."

I smiled and shook his hand, "Thank you so much for joining my brother, i hope you'll enjoy the festivities later on."

He nodded and stepped back as the girl stepped right next to Linden.

"This is Meadow, my mate."

I couldn't even hide how happy I was for my brother as I hugged him once again and then hugged her, the two chuckled together at my enthusiasm and together we all sat down with Anise and had a rather late breakfast.
