"Calum, 'If Walls Could Talk' is playing, now turn it up!" you exclaimed excitedly as you drove. Your boyfriend was in the seat beside you whereas Ashton, Luke, and Michael squeezed into the back.
As he turned it up, the whole car was vibrating. If the high volume of the speakers wasn't enough, there were 4 grown ass men, plus you, belting their hearts out proudly at the song they produced. There was Michael, who was screaming the lyrics at the top of his lungs and purposefully cracking his voice, there was Luke, who was doing his best to sound good and hear himself over Michael, then there was Ashton who was harmonizing - again, still trying to hear himself over Mike.
"It's your part!" you yelled to your boyfriend beside you. It was the only way you could be heard.
"...wouldn't dare let you down. Don't let that class go to waste, oh you're a queen but uncrowned-" he sang before Luke took over.
"-Oh, not everything is so primitive; oh, but I'm giving i-"
"HoldTheFuckUp," you yelled, interrupting Luke. "Sorry, Luke," you said, looking at him through the car mirror. You turned down the music, then turned to Calum. "What did you just say?" you laughed.
"I sang my part," Calum stated, confused.
"No you didn't," you said. "You said 'Oh you're a queen but uncrowned,'" you stated as a matter-of-factly.
"Yeah, and-?" he continued, still as confused as before.
"It's, 'Oh you're a queen but I'm crowned,'" you corrected.
     "No it's not," Calum laughed.
"The fuck?" you said, a shocked smile plastered on your face. "Yes it is, you're just wrong."
"Come on, Y/n, I wrote the song," Calum said. He had a point.
"It's like, my favourite song; how could I not know the lyrics?"
"It's 'uncrowned,' not 'I'm crowned,'" he persisted. Your eyes showed that you were skeptical. "It is, I swear."
"You see, babe, I'd believe you," you paused, smiling, your eyes still glued to the road ahead, "except I don't because you're wrong."
"Love," he said, laughing. He couldn't understand why you were so stubborn when clearly you were wrong, but he found it cute anyway. "I am right." The boys in the back kept quiet.
"Love," you repeated after him, "I am right." You emphasized the "I" as you stuck to your initial and only opinion.
"You're wrong, y/n," Michael said, joining in and siding with his bandmate.
"Hey," you said in an accusing tone. "I thought you were my friend." You acted in mock hurt and betrayal, letting go of the steering wheel with one hand, putting it to your heart.
"Back off," Calum warned jokingly, directing his words towards Mike. "Only I can say she's wrong. To everyone else, she's always right. It makes her happy." It pleased you that through your childish bickering, he was still protective over you.
"Alright man," Michael agreed, hands up in a surrendering motion. You saw him through the mirror.
"Back to the point," Calum said. "I'm right."
"Nope," you insisted. "I'm right - as always." Calum threw his head back, thinking of what else to say.
"Not true. When was the last time you were ri-"
"Who predicted the thunderstorm that one weekend last month and insisted on postponing the pool party?"
"You did, but-" he started, only to get interrupted by you.
"Exactly," you said, satisfied. "Who was right about being out of eggs just yesterday when we went grocery shopping, and who insisted on buying more?"
     "You di-"
"And did we end up needing those eggs we bought?" you pressed on. You weren't serious about being angry, but you found it fun to tease him a bit. All was being said with a smile on both your faces.
"...you," he admitted reluctantly. Your smile grew into a smile of accomplishment. You knew you were wrong about the lyrics; he wrote the song, obviously. You just enjoyed teasing him.
     "Damn, Cal," Luke laughed.
"Well, now we know the submissive one in the relationshi-"
"MICHAEL," Calum yelled out in alarm, embarrassed. He leaned forward in the seat, his head in his hands. His face was red, his tanned skin changing colour drastically around his cheeks. Then, he sat back up straight, a mischievous idea in his head.
"And how 'bout in bed, y/n?" he asked with a cocky smirk. "Could you agree that that's still true?" He winked as it was your turn to blush. Your eyes were wide, but mouth shut. He leaned over to you, whispering lowly into your ear, "No, you can't. We both know that's not true, isn't that right?"
The rest of the drive was much more silent, the only noises being the boys' quiet snickers in the back, as well as the quiet radio still playing.
"But to be fair," Ashton spoke up, breaking the silence. "Calum was right about the song's lyrics."
"Stop defending your boyfriend, Ash." you joked, winking. "He's mine now."
