"Like this?"

"No, you can't do that yet."

"What do you mean?"

"God, do you ever listen, Miyeon?"

She laughed, slamming her card down face-up anyway, despite Jungkook's disapproval. "No, I win."

He swiped her card away, smiling but extremely enthusiastic. "We're not even close to finished, what are you talking about?"

"It doesn't matter!" Miyeon hollered through the laughter. "I win!"

Jungkook shook his head, grinning. "I'm never palying cards with you again."

"Why? Cause you always lose?"

Miyeon saw him stifle a laugh. After an hour or so of poor poker explanation, Miyeon realized the play-arguing was much more fun than the game. Besides, poker was hella confusing. She would stick with Go Fish.

"Well, thanks for that pointless lesson," Miyeon smirked. "It was getting so boring sitting here all day."

"You're bored?" Jungkook mocked. "Everyone else has been out doing deals and jobs and raids and I'm stuck here."

Miyeon frowned. She knew the probation bothered Jungkook, but she didn't know that everyone else was still off on duty. "Is that the Marcono thing? I thought that was yesterday?"

"Marcono ended up running. They're still out hunting him down."

So Marcono was a person. It made better sense now.

Jungkook was staring out the window behind her. Shades of orange and gold were thrown over his face, meaning the sun was setting. "They've been at it for over an hour now. When do you think they'll be back?"

"I don't know," Jungkook answered bitterly. "It was supposed to be a quick job. I hope they're not dicking around somewhere."

"Why?"

"Because they actually know how to play poker." He scoffed at Miyeon, who reached and hit him on the shoulder.

"Fuck off, Jungkook, I'm clearly a master."

Before he could respond, the bedroom door opened. Mr. Jin walked in. "Hey guys."

"You're back," Jungkook said, turning to face him at the door. "How did the raid go?"

A raid? Two different jobs, right.

"Get this," Jin smiled, "double what we were expecting. We were able to sell half immediately for three times the price."

Jungkook grinned and bit his lip. Miyeon could see his excitement for the success. She was  happy about it, too. Another link in the chain of victories she could already tell the Bangtan family would take.

"I'm making dinner now," Jin said, heading back out the door. "I'll be back up with it soon, Miyeon."

"Thank you."

"Wait for me!" Jungkook called, standing up from the bed. "I'm going to eat."

"Knock yourself out," Miyeon responded. She waited until he left and the door was closed.

She felt good. She hadn't felt pain in her wound at all while she was playing cards, and it was actually fun to push Jungkook's buttons. And now he was going off to eat a real dinner with his friends, doubling as his colleagues.

She sighed, wishing she could have a family like Jungkook did, too.

"I'll be...here."
