Chapter Nine:
P. O. V. = Maddie Newman
Wow. Just wow. I’ve never been much of a self-conscious person but I could help but feel I looked like an idiot eating frozen yogurt. Did I open my mouth to wide, was the chocolate syrup staining my face, did I make strange expressions when the cold crème touched my tongue? I knew all eyes were on me , I even saw a few people who had gone to my school watching in me in awe. They probably couldn’t believe that some girl from their grade was dating an international superstar and looked like an idiot whilst eating frozen yogurt.
“Um . . . Maddie, you’ve got a bit of chocolate syrup on your cheek,” Liam said wiping the side of my mouth with his thumb. Awww, he was so cute sometimes I couldn’t help but smile and blush. Sweetly I fed Liam a bite of my vanilla frozen yogurt with a spoon he kept in his pocket from home while smearing a good bit of it on his face. Carefully inspecting his face I cracked up.
“If only my phone had photo capabilities, I could take a picture of your beautiful face,” I laughed my voice oozing sarcasm. Liam slid his phone over to me and a grin that looked like he was trying to hard come up with an attractive smile. It was corny and completely artificial and I tried to hide my disgust in his fakeness. Why was he faking a grin? He had a beautiful smile that just comes naturally, why fake it?
“Say cheese!” I chuckled as Liam gave me a larger than life smile little kids give their parents in photos, he was really an attractive lad. Whoa, I told myself, I’m practically dating Niall, I can’t have feelings for my fake boyfriend! Okay maybe that’s kind of the point but I couldn’t do something like that to Niall, he’s such a nice guy . . . .
I knew my smile must’ve dropped because Liam looked at me with growing inquiry, “Maddie, what’s wrong?” he asked eyeing me doubtfully. Carefully I placed a phony smile on my face and took a bite of my frozen yogurt.
“Nothing. Wanna a bite of my yogurt?” I asked trying to sound a little brighter and cheerful, he started to protest so I added a little information. “It’s chocolaty!”
“Well, when you put it that way . . .” he said while pulling the spoon to his lips, I rolled my eyes. That boy has seriously got to learn how to act like a normal teen, being a super famous member in a boy band has not been good for him. Suddenly I heard a muffled Buzz Buzz and by habit I check my phone only to see it was Liam’s. Liam’s eyes traced over the text, his lips moving as he read.
“Lou said he needs to talk to me about something, I think we better go.” Liam said taking my hand into his, he felt so comforting and relaxed I just wanted to stare into his eyes forever.
“M’ kay.” I say standing up reaching for my purse until I remember I didn’t bring it with me, Liam leaned down and gave me a sweet kiss. It wasn’t long and powerful but it wasn't short like a peck but more like a happy medium and it was perfect. Did I have feelings, it certainly looked like it to the world, I thought as we walked out of the ice cream shop holding hands very couple like.
In a dreamlike state, I drove us back to the hotel and walked up to their suite. Liam had pulled out his credit card style key and swiped it along the lock so we could enter the room where all the other lads were sitting cross legged on the two beds. Niall and Li’s room had become our unofficial meeting place in the past two days.
“So lads, what’s the reason for our meeting today?” I asked placing myself between a cranky Harry and a quiet Niall. Zayn and Louis were arguing over something or another whilst playfully slapping each other, I actually heard the words Kevin the pigeon spat a couple times and I had to stifle a chuckle. Then after a lot of shouting Lou cooled down and turned to me, a prominent smirk playing on his face.
