Plans Change || Three

Cariah's POV:

"What did she mean dad changed your name?"

"No what the hell did she mean when she said my mom died twice while I was inside her?" I said.

"I don't know but something isn't right here" Zoë-Jane said.

"You don't...you think....dad lied to me do you?" I asked.

"I don't think so. I don't think dad is really that smart to keep a bunch of lies going for 17 years. He'd slip up with the truth by accident" she said.

"I don't know but I'm going to get answers today" I said.

"Dad, Crystal is here to pick me up" I said.

"Okay bye" he said. I rolled my eyes before walking out the door.

My dad has never really been an affectionate person with me or with Zoë-Jane. He hardly hugs us and hardly says I love you. Actually I think the last time he told me 'I love you' was for my 16th birthday. And the only reason he said it was because he had just given me my Jeep and I told him 'I love you' first. Zoë-Jane and I are very loving to each other. We always hug. Always say I love you and we always talk to each other about everything.

"Hey Cariah" Crystal said as I got into her Audi.

"Hey. Love the car" I said.

"Thanks" we drove to the place where the shoot was going to be and Crystal was right it was in the middle of nowhere.

"Okay so my day consists of a lot of walking around and talking to everyone and making sure everyone is good and knows what they're doing" Crystal said.

"Sounds like a lot"

"On movies and TV sets I'm constantly running around. But for side jobs like this where it's not a big shoot I can relax" she said.

"Well that's good" I said as I sat down on a stool across from her.

"So is there any questions you had or anything you want to know?" She asked.

"Yeah. Where is my mom?" I asked.

"Your mom? Cariah your mom passed away when you were born" she said as if stating the obvious.

My first thought was how could my dad lie to me and tell me my mom left him? Then my second thought was what else has he lied to me about?

"What did you mean when you said my mom died twice with me inside her?" I asked.

"Oh. You don't know do you?" She asked shocked.

"I don't know anything. My whole life my dad told me my mom left him and wanted nothing to do with me. Then I meet you and Mariah and find out not only did my dad lie to me about my mom. But he lied to me about my own name. And apparently there's some guy named Colby that I know absolutely nothing about but most likely knows everything about me" I said as I felt tear coming down my face.

"I can't believe he lied to you about all this" she said as she started shaking her head.

"Just please tell me, am I adopted?" I asked.

"No. You're not adopted. But your dad has been lying to you" she said.

"Then please. Tell me the truth" I said.

"Cariah. I don't know if I should be the one telling you this" she said as she got up but I stood up and grabbed her arm.

"Crystal please. I just found out my dad has been lying to me my whole life. He never hugs me. He lets me drink while I'm under 21. He lets me drive even though I don't have a license or a permit. And it's been over a year since he last told me he loved me. Please just tell me. I deserve to know what happened with my mom" I said with tears still going down my face.

"Okay. I'll tell you everything"
