Plans Change || Thirteen

Cariah's POV:

Colby and I were on our way to my house. I'm kinda scared because my dad knows I've been hanging out with Colby and he was very pissed.

Colby lives in LA and I live in Anaheim so it's gonna be about an hour drive and it's already midnight so I'm hoping when I get home my dad is asleep and I won't have to deal with him.

We just pulled up to my house and it's 1:30am. Normally me coming home at this hour I wouldn't be scared to walk inside since my dad usually doesn't give a fuck where I am or who I'm with. But he was obviously very mad at the fact that I knew Colby.

"Well I had fun. Thanks for the ride home" I said.

"Of course. Let me know what happens with your dad" he said.

"I will" I got out of the car and went to the front door. I unlocked it and quietly opened the door.

I guess my dad is asleep. I closed the door and went up the stairs but right as I was about to walk into my room, the hallway light turned on.

"Where have you been?" My dad asked.

"Ummmm with friends"

"Don't bullshit be Cariah. How do you know Colby and why are you spending time with him?" He asked sternly.

"He's just been telling me about my mom"

"Well whatever he tells you he's lying. He's always been a liar. And you don't need to know anything about your mom. And you're not going to see Colby again. Ever" he said.

"What do you mean I don't need to know anything about my mom? She's my mother. She gave birth to me"

"Well she obviously didn't want you since she tried to kill herself while she knew she was pregnant" he said before going into his room and closing the door.

That was harsh as fuck.

I went into my room and felt a tear going down my face.

Did my mom really try to kill herself knowing she was pregnant?

I changed into my pajamas and then saw I had a text from Colby.

From Colby:

How did it go?

To Colby:

Bad. He said I don't need to know anything about my mom and that everything you tell me is a lie

From Colby:

Not true. You have every right to know everything about your mom. And I'm not lying to you at all

I'm kinda at the point where I don't know who I should believe. My dad is my dad so I wanna believe him but I've had Crystal and Colby tell me that he's been lying to me. And then I have Colby who seems to be telling me the truth. But I also just met him.

I don't think Colby is lying but I also don't want to fully believe him.

I decided to do a little bit of research on my mom. So I grabbed my computer and typed her name into google.

"17 year old Jade Brooks is revived from attempted suicide, only to pass away in a collision months later while being 9 months pregnant" I read quietly to myself. I read the article which was really sad. It just talked about how my mom was very depressed and wanted to end her life and once she was revived the doctors told her and her family that she was pregnant. Then when she was 9 months pregnant she got into a car accident with Crystal and Mariah.

I really wish I was able to meet my mom. She sounds like such an amazing woman.

I went to YouTube and typed in her school YouTube channel and started watching some of the videos she was in. It made me smile.
