Chapter 28

Mitch's Pov.

I listened to the recording Kayla sent to me. Once it ended I whispered, "I love you too." Suddenly it hit me that I had only 30 minutes to get to the abandoned hotel. I ran to my car and hopped in. I went way over the speed limit, worried I wouldn't make it in time.

I weaved in and out of the other cars, recieving several honks, but I didn't care. Finally I heard police sirens, but I continued driving. "Let them chase me," I whispered to myself. I stayed concentrated on the road and cars surrounding me as I sped towards the old, abandoned, run-down hotel.

Kayla's Pov.

"Five more minutes," I whispered to myself. I was currently sitting in a supply closet after outrunning Harry and the guards. I sat leaned up against the wall catching my breath and watching the minutes tick away on my phone. They must have given up, because I didn't hear a single sound from the surrounding hallways. Just in case, I still sat in silence.

Finally I decided to start making my way towards the 3rd floor window. First though I checked the main floor. The entire floor was lined with Harry's guards. He obviously wasn't letting me out of the hotel easily. As I was walking through the halls I heard police sirens.

Mitch's Pov.

I jumped out of the car and stood below the 3rd story stairwell window. I have a couple reasons why I know exactly where this window is, but let's not get into that. All that mattered right now was that I needed to catch Kayla. If I didn't catch her I would never forgive myself.

My thoughts were interrupted by police sirens once again. One of them was yelling "Put your hands up!" A few more shouts and demands were made as a few of them had their guns pointed in my direction. Another one barked orders, "Get on th-," but was interrupted mid sentence by a girl screaming.

I turned around and saw Kayla in the window yelling at them to put their guns down. Finally they lowered their guns and she turned towards me. "Thank you M-," but she was as well interrupted. (Just an interrupting chapter eh? Haha)

I saw Harry appear in the window behind her and he held a gun to her head. The policemen pulled out their guns once more, but Harry yelled, "Stand down or I will shoot her!" The policemen hesitated, so he pulled the trigger. I yelled, but I never heard a bang. His gun must not have been loaded, because it never shot a bullet.

Kayla's Pov.

My eyes were wide with terror as Harry held the gun to my head. Mitch had a worried look on his face and policemen were drawing their guns. I heard Harry pull the trigger, but there wasn't a single sound. I took my opportunity and swept his legs out from underneath him and watched as he hit the ground with a 'thud'. 

Before I could decide against it I launched myself out of the broken window. I screamed as I fell 3 stories to the ground. I kept my eyes tightly closed as I fell like a dead weight towards the ground below. It was almost as if everything was in slow motion. Tears were streaming down my face as I felt the cool air against my cheeks. I just wished I could grow wings and fly to safety, but I was falling. Falling with extreme speed may I add.

I didn't realize I had reached the ground until I felt arms wrapped around me. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Mitch standing infront of me with his arms snaked around my waist. He had actually caught me. "Thank you so much Mitch," I cried. "Don't worry about it, it was nothing. As long as you are safe from harm I am happy," he smiled. "Mitch, I love you so much," I whispered so only he could hear. "I love you too," he whispered back. I looked up into his eyes and almost melted. He slowly leaned down and planted a kiss on my soft lips.

I had no words for what he had done. I did realize one thing though, I loved Mitch with all of my heart. I didn't realize it at first, but this entire time it was him that I loved. Everything about him was so perfect. He didn't have a single flaw.

We stood in silence for what only seemed like minutes until he started, "Kayla I love you. I love you more than you could possibly imagine. Would you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?" I wanted to scream and jump on him, but instead I pulled him into another kiss and whispered, "Yes."

How did you loves like that chapter? Finally huh? After 28 chapters #Mayla finally becomes a thing. Now, you all are probably wondering where I've been. Not gonna lie, I am a major procrastinator. I know for a fact that my brother is one too, but that is beside the point. I am going to Minnesota tomorrow, so you should expect some chapters for sure. I will update as much as I can along the way, but no guarantees that the rest stops will have wifi.
