Strange Things in Hawkins Chapter 4

Emilys POV

Demadog whatever that was it didn't sound good. But I needed to talk to Dustin about him keeping Dart without telling me. And I was also curious as to why he was with Steve Harrington.

The junkyard was kinda far so I didn't get there till it was almost sunset. I walked my bike over the small hill into the junkyard. Seeing Lukas,Steve,Dustin and Max wondering around fortifying the old school bus. What the heck was a demadog? Considering what they were doing.

I left my bike at the top of the hill and jogged down the hill. "Dustin!" I called out when I was almost to him. He turned around and smiled,my face got hot.

"Emily Im glad you could come we can use all the help we can get" he said turning back to the bus. But I grabbed his shoulder and turned him back around.

"I know you kept Dart,I saw the tank in your room" I said. He looked ashamed and sad.

"I'm sorry but I didn't want the guys to find out,Lukas would kill me" he said glancing at Lukas.

"I wouldn't have told if you had asked me not to"

"I know...I know it's just"

"You don't trust me" anger start boiling inside of me getting hotter and hotter.

"No I do!....Em I'm sorry ok" he said taking my hands. The anger stoped and I feel like I'm about to pass out. He smiles at me. I lean closer to him and he leans closer to me. I want to close the gap.

"Hey dibshits!!" Steve yells making me and Dustin jump and back away from each other Dustin letting go of my hands. "Get off your ass and help!" He yells.

Dustin walks off and him and Steve starts talking Steve giving me a glare over his shoulder before putting his arm around Dustin pulling him closer to him so he can whisper something.

I sigh and walk over and start to help.

The sun was going down. As Steve and Dustin laid out chopped up beef in a big pile. Then doused it with gasoline. What the heck was going on.

"Alright let's go" Steve said practically pushing us into the bus. Dustin closing the door behind him. We all sat in silence for a while. The only sound was Steve playing with a lighter.

"Ok what is going on!" I said

Dustin,Steve and Lukas gave each other looks. "It's complicated" Dustin said.

"So" I said.

"You tell her" Lukas said climbing onto the roof of the bus. Steve and Dustin just looked at each other.

"We can't really just explain it" Dustin said.

"You told me you would explain all this Dustin! What's going on?" I said almost yelling at him instantly regretting it.

"You told her what?!" Steve said.

"I said I would tell her what was going on" Dustin said.

"No no you idiot you can't just drag people into this craziness!"

"Well I'm sorry Steve she my friend ok! And friends don't lie!" Steve started pacing,as he ran his hand through his hair.

"Ok I'm out. I don't like arguing" Max said putting her hands up. Then climbing the ladder to join Lukas on the roof.

"I'm sorry Dustin" Steve said. Dustin looked up at him as did I,id never seen Steve be kind to anyone before. Dustin gave a small smile.

"It's ok Steve" he said. Then a bloodcurdling scream we'll it was more of a roar then a scream. It made all of us jump and stand on edge.

"What was that?" I asked my voice shaking.

"Demadog" Dustin said as he went to the window. Him and Steve scanning for something.

"Do you see him?" Dustin asked.

"Nah not yet" Steve replied shaking his head.

"12 o-clock! 12 o-clock!" Lukas warned us from outside. Now I got up and went to the window curious. The fog was think but I could vaguely see a big dog shape about 10ish yards away.

"There!" I said pointing to the spot.

"Why isn't he taking the bait?" Dustin asked

"Maybe he's tired of beef" Steve said standing up and grabbing a bat with nails in it.

"Steve what are you doing?" Dustin asked

"Just get ready" Steve said tossing Dustin the lighter.

He walked out of the bus as we looked on. Max came down the ladder "What is he doing!?" She asked.

"Expanding the menu" Dustin said blankly.

"He's crazy!" Max said fear on her face.

"He's awesome" Dustin replied.

"I think he's a bit of both" I said. Dustin laughed a little.

"Steve!" Lukas yelled.

"Little busy here" Steve hollered back.

"3 o-clock 3 o-clock!" Lukas yelled. Steve turned to face another creature. There were two of them. Oh nope three. Another one had come into view.

Dustin ran to the door opening it "Steve abort abort!!" He yelled.

One of the things charged and Steve ran. Flipping over the hood of a car. And turning and hitting another one right in the face. Then he booked it ran as fast at he could the creature chasing after him.

"Come on Come on Come on!!" Dustin was yelling. Steve jumped into the bus and closed the door right before the thing got in. It was banging on the door trying to get inside.

We all backed away from the door Lukas came down and we were all huddle together in the back of the bus. Dustin yelling into his headset trying to contact anyone.

Then a loud booming came from the roof we all looked up to see a dent. Then another then another. The thing was walking on the roof straight towards the hole we had been using to go on and off the roof.

I found myself barring my face in Dustin's shoulder hugging him tightly. He smelt like dirt and sweet candy. He hugged me back witch made it even better for a second I forgot what was happening. Till I heard a scream come from Max followed by a loud roar. I held Dustin tighter trying to ignore the sounds.

Then came Steve's voice yelling at the thing telling it to "get some of this" i assumed he was talking about his bat. But I wasn't sure because my face was still buried in Dustin's shoulder.

Then it all stoped I looked up slowly and the thing was gone. I stepped away from Dustin taping my foot. Him rubbing his neck.

"What happened?" Max asked.

"Steve scared them off" Dustin said.

"No,there going somewhere" Steve said looking at us.

"Then let's go" Dustin said walking towards the door.

"Hey Hey! I go first" Steve said opening the door and stepping outside. He waved us forward and we all climbed out of the bus. It was quite,an eerie type of quite.

I type of quite that made you uncomfortable. I was definitely uncomfortable.
