Strange Things In Hawkins Chapter 17

Emily's POV.

Dustin was shaking he said he didn't know what IT was. I really hated seeing him like this. We had all been through so much when will it end?!

After a bit he started calming down more. But he didn't really acknowledge us there. He was holding my hand but that was it.

"Dust?" Steve asked him. He turned to his friend.

"I'm sorry" Steve said blankly. Why was he sorry.

"This is all my fault" he said his voice cracked on fault.

"It's not your fault Steve" Dustin replied. Steve just shook his head.

"Yes,yes it is" he said.

"How is it your fault Steve?" Dustin asked. Steve looked at him a mix of regret sadness and love in his eyes.

"I-I'm the one who let you go down there" he said choking on his words he was holding back tears. Dustin shook his head but Steve continued.

"I let you fall behind,I should've been in the middle of you all,so so I could keep an eye on all of you. But I didn't" he took a shaky breath as the tears started coming and kept going.

"I should've been there for you" he said staring at Dustin tears streaming down his face.

Everyone was shocked staring at him and Dustin. They didn't know or understand how close they were.

Dustin was in shock as well. He looked like he was about to explode with different emotions. He instead just slowly wrapped his arms around Steve hugging him.

And Steve hugged him back,grabbing Dustin's shirt in his hands burying his face in Dustin's shoulder. As Dustin had previously done to him.

"It's not your fault Steve" Dustin said crying.

"It's not your fault" he repeated.

They pulled away and wiped there tears. Everyone still staring at them with confusion.

Dustin laughed a little at the sight of all his friends staring at him and Steve.

"Stop" he said. They all blinked and looked away.

"Dustin" Mike spoke up.

"I'm sorry,for teasing you about Steve" he said looking ashamed. Steve looked from Dustin to Mike.

"It's fine" Dustin said. Mike looked at him.

"I know it's kinda weird" he said.

"Kinda? He like 10 years older then you!" Lukas exclaimed.

"Woah woah! How old do you guys think I am?!?" Steve asked everyone including myself burst into laughter.

"I'm serious!?" Steve asked witch only made us all laugh more.

After we had stoped laughing I looked at Steve and jokingly said. "I thought you were like 30" he gave me a glare before laughing a little.

"No I'm not 30" he said.

"Oh ok I must have mistaken you for my uncle" I said. He laughed then said.

"Your uncle is doing good for his age if he looks like me" he said combing through his hair with his hand.

I smiled. Oh my gosh who were we?

So weird that's who we are. A bunch of crazy kids who share trauma that seriously need some breaks.

After a while people started leaving heading home. Saying goodbyes and see you tomorrow as they left. Soon it was just me Dustin Steve and Will.

"You guys want a ride home?" Steve asked we exchanges looks and then all nodded.
