Strange Things In Hawkins Chapter 10

Steve's POV.

Not much had happened today it was honestly boring. I just sat on my bed reading a book. Agh..me...reading what had this day come to?

I knock at the door rang through the house. Who could that be? I got up and ran downstairs,and opened the front door. Emily and Dustin stood in the doorway. Yes just what I needed! Hang out time with these guys.

I don't think that's what they were here for however. They both looked worried and scared. "What is it?" I asked I turned back to head to my room.

"I'll get my bat" I said walking away but a hand grabbed onto my wrist. It was Dustin.

"You don't need your bat Steve" he said he looked terrible his eyes were puffy he looked drained. What was wrong was he ok?

"I just need you" he said. Me? He needed me. For what?

"Ok..." I said "what's going on?"

He looked at Emily sadly.

"Well explain on the way" she said I nodded and followed them outside to Hoppers truck.

What was wrong?! Having Hopper involved must mean it's not good. I climbed into the front seat of the car. Emily and Dustin climbed into the back sitting next to each other. Eleven was also in the truck sitting behind Hopper.

"Can you guys please explain what's going on. Your all freaking me out a bit" I said I was surprisingly calm but worried. What was wrong with Dustin?!

"Do you remember how Dustin had that headache the other day" Emily said. I turned around in my seat so I could see them. Emily was holding Dustin's hand.

"Ya" I responded.

"Well..they've gotten worse,and we think they have something to do with the upside down" what!! The upside down no no no NO this was not happening again first Will now Dustin No I won't allow it.

"What!" I said in response Emily nodded.

"Oh and Hopper is having them to" Emily said. I looked at Hopper for a second before turning back to the kids.

"So what are we doing?" I asked honestly I had no idea.

"We're going to get some texts done" Hopper said. "For me and Dustin"

"So why am I here?"

"Dustin wanted you and Emily to be there" he what? Dustin wanted me with him.

I looked at him,he hadn't spoken since we got in the car. I could tell he was scared.

"Hey!" I said knocking his hat a bit to get his attention. He looked up at me.

"Your fine ok,you are the bravest kid I know. You protected us in the tunnels form Dart! You bring humor to crazy situations to make everyone feel better. You are strong ok!" I said he smiled and nodded at me.

We pulled up to the lab and parked,Everyone piled out of the car.

Dustin was rubbing his arm nervously. Emily was trying to calm him down. But we were missing one...El

She was standing by the truck looking at the building fear and hatred in her eyes. "El come on" Hopper said rather sweetly and calm. Eleven nodded and slowly joined us taking Hoppers hand in hers.

We waited for a long time sitting there not doing anything all of us worried for Dustin and Hoppers sake.

Dustin had been pacing around for a while. Running his hands through his hair and fidgeting with his hat.

I stood up and stoped him. Turning him to face me. "Strong! Ok you are strong! You'll push through this,I know you will" he nodded a bit.

Then he went blank no expression stiff as a board. And he had dropped his hat on the floor. "Dustin?" I asked he didn't respond I shook him a little. Emily came over to him as well. Looking terrified.

"Dust!" I yelled again shaking him.

"Dustin?!" Emily spoke but it was a whisper so quite I almost didn't hear her. She started crying.

"Dustin" another voice spoke it was Eleven she had walked over as well.

What was wrong with him! He had to be ok. Hopper had left to get someone to help. It was just me Emily,Eleven and Dustin. Then he was back his body relaxed he knew we were there. But he didn't speak he looked as if he had seen a ghost. He looked up at me tears in his eyes.

Then he hugged me,I went stiff for a second then hugged him back hard. I fell to my knees dragging Dustin down with me. Emily and Eleven joined in the hug to.

After a minute I pushed him back so I could look him in the eyes. "Don't you ever do that EVER again you hear me!" I then engulfed him in another hug. He cried into my chest grabbing my jacket in his fist. His body shaking with each sob and deep raspy breath he took.

I hadn't realized but I was crying,no bailing...like a baby. Hopper walked back in with a guy behind him. We all stood up me still holding Dustin close to me. Emily holding his hand,and Eleven just looked at him.

The scientist walked forward. "Hello I'm Dr Parker,I will be taking Mr Henderson now to figure out what's wrong with him. And Mr Hopper I would like you to come as well" he said Hopper gave a nod and looked at Dustin.

But he didn't move he stood holding Emily's hand and standing next to me. His breaths still a bit shaky. I honestly didn't want him going either I wanted him to be safe. And I would keep him safe. "Come on kid" Hopper said.

Dustin took a step forward my hand remained on his shoulder and he didn't let go of Emily's hand either. He looked back at us and walked out of the room with Hopper and Dr Parker.

I picked up his hat turning it in my hands.

We just stood there all in shock as to what happened. What did happen? what did he see? "Dustin ok?" Eleven asked. I put my arm around her and my other arm around Emily.

"I hope so Eleven,we need him" I said Eleven nodded and leaned on me. I looked at her. Her hair had grown out it was curly and shaggy and she was a bit taller. She wiped her tears and leaned on me more. Emily then did the same. I had said "we need him"

But I had really meant "I need him" he made me a better person. I couldn't imagine something happening to him. I cared about him to much. You could probably say I loved the kid......and you would be right.

I did I loved him and I needed him.
