Strange Things In Hawkins Chapter 9

Dustin's POV

I sat in my room on my bed reading a X-Men comic. Wolverine has just passed out from some toxic gas while trying to save Beast. It was at the climax!!!  "Dusty!!" My mom called.

"I'm a minute mom!!" I called back. I had to finish this part.

"It's your friends!!" She called. I paused should I finish or hang with my friends mmmmm,hang. I got up and walked down the hall to the door.

Emily and Eleven stood in the doorway. They looked nervous and scared.

"Come on Dustin we have something to show you!" Emily said. She sounded up beat but something was of.

"Mom I'm heading out!!" I called in her direction and walked out the door. Hoppers truck was in the driveway him in the front seat.

"Why is Hopper here?" I asked.

"He's taking us to our destination" Emily explained. Ok yaaa something was 100% up I've never seen them act like this before. I reluctantly walked towards the car climbing into the front seat. The doors locked but Emily and Eleven were still outside?!

I looked at Hopper "Hey you locked the doors." I said.

"I know" Hopper replied turning on the car and pulling out of the driveway leaving Emily and El behind.

"What's going on?" I asked I was honestly scared,I trusted Hopper but this was sketchy.

"Me and you are gonna have a talk,about your headaches" he said. My headaches had Emily told him. Why? Did she know I was lying? Or maybe she was scared....was she? Scared for my health. Had she gotten Hopper to talk to me. So I would open up about them. How I think they had something to do with The Upside down.

"What about them?" I asked not looking at him.

"Em told me everything kid" he said.

"And she wanted me to talk to you,but I want to talk to you to" he said.

"Why?" I asked glancing over at him.

"Cuz I'm having them to" he said.
What? Hopper is having them to?!

"You are!" I asked,He nodded.

"Yup,and I'm guessing you think it's from that place,same as me. I know your smart".

"The upside down?!" I asked him.

"Ya that"

"Ya I do" I said and I did. When that thing sprayed all over me some of it got in my mouth. I think that's what was causing my headaches and blackouts.

"So,I have an appointment in a bit"he said turning left. "And your coming with me"

"What?" Was he serious?!

"Yup,we are going to find out what's wrong with us" he said.

"Well if I'm going to have tons of tests done on me,can I at least have someone there. Ya know for comfort" I said. Hop gave me a weird look. Then spoke up.

"Who you have in mind?" He asked. I thought for a second but I didn't need to.

"Can I actually have two people?" I asked him.

"Again who you have in mind"

"Emily" I said. He nodded

"And....Steve"

He looked at me. "Steve?" He asked.

I lowered my head. I felt a bit ashamed of wanting Steve with me. But I did Steve really was like a brother to me. "Yes" I said lifting my head and looking at Hopper seriously.

He looked confused but nodded his head. "Alright let go get Emily...........and Steve" Hopper said. Turning the car around to go and get Emily.

I knew having them there would help. Steve being my broth—friend. And Emily being my....girlfriend? Could I call her that. We never really clarified with each other what we were. Maybe I could ask her later.

Hopefully Steve was home. I really wanted him there....No I needed him there. Steve was really important to me! I don't care what the party thinks.

Not having my dad around. Steve honestly kinda became my dad to me. I haven't even known him for that long. But..I feel like I've known him all my life.

And Emily I've known for a while but I really feel close to her. And I really like her. Steve told me not to get to into that stuff at my age. But I didn't even really try,it just sorta happened. And her being there would make me feel more at ease.

And having Steve would make me feel secure. Because I know he'll protect me from anything.

I was scared,more scared then facing Dart in the tunnels.

I was terrified,what could the doctors even do? What was happening to me and Hopper. Could they fix us? Would we get worse,die. I didn't want to think about it so instead I focused on the houses we passed.

"Hey" I looked over at Hopper who had snapped me away from my daydreams.

"It's gonna be fine" he said he put his hand on my shoulder. "Ok your going to be fine" I nodded I hoped he was right.

Sorry this chapter was a bit short.

I can't though with the things Dustin said about Steve. I loved writing that
part!! Hope you guys enjoyed and will stick around to see what happens next.
