True Colors (Splatoon Story) (Complete)

Chapter 11 -The Start of the Operation-

Today, was the day. Today, we're going to start the mission to take Exalted Flame down. I at Tulip's warehouse, preparing my gear for the infiltration and rescue all of the test subjects that are trapped inside. I was in front of my collection of weapons, trying to think which I should take for this operation.

My modified N-ZAPs is one of them, since they were my favourites and easy to carry around and finally, I decided to take the Splattershot Pro (Weapons from Splatoon 1). When I was done, I look towards Tulip and saw that she's deciding on her weapons as well.

"What ever you choose, choose also one with a subweapon in case everything goes wrong," I said in a serious voice.

She looks towards me, then back to her arsenal, then back to me, nodding. I left her to decide her weapon choice, and went towards the roof and I look to the horizon. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit nervous to do this mission. I may have been trained to be modified super soldiers, but I'm still an Inkling, just like everyone else.

I'm taking a couple of deep breaths and let them out, trying to calm myself down. After a couple of minutes, I heard Tulip walking towards me. I turn to face her and saw that she has the Custom Dualie Squelchers and the Rapid Blast Deco (weapons from Splatoon 2) but she was also in her agent uniform.

"I see that you're ready to go," I said, by which she nodded.

"Alright then, let's go and meet the rest," I said in a serious tone.

She nodded again. I stand up and make my way towards the exit of the warehouse, Tulip following me. The both of us quickly make our way towards the manhole that leads to Octo Valley, where we'll meet the rest of the group. Once at the other side, we were met with Agent 3, who has a Gold Dynamo Roller and a Mini Splatling (weapons from Splatoon 1), and Agent 4, who has a Neo Sploosh-o-Matic and a Splat Brella (Splatoon 2).

"Glad to see that the agents are prepared," I said, getting the attention of the two agents.

"Hey (F/n). Are you ready?" asked Agent 4.

"As ready as I'll ever be," I said in a serious tone as I pull out my N-ZAP '83 and '85.

"You're going all out with the weapons, aren't you?" asked Agent 3.

"Nope, just my three N-ZAPs and Splattershot Pro," I responded.

"Not a bad choice. The N-ZAPs are small and easy to carry around, yet very effective if you know how to use them," said a female voice behind me.

I turn around and was faced with the four stars of the group and everyone was in their hero outfit. Marie has the Hero Charger, while Callie has the Hero Roller and Marina has an Octobrush Nouveau and the Hero Brella, while Pearl has an Inkbrush and the Hero Dualies (all from Splatoon 2).

"I see that everyone is prepared," I said in a calm voice.

"Hell yeah we are. We even got the fleets ready to rescue all the enslaved Inklings there," said Pearl.

"I'm glad to hear that. Now then, shall we go? It's going to be quite a drive there," I said to everyone.

"We're ready when you are," said Callie, with confidence.

"Then let's go," I said with a confidence smile.

"Come on, Sheldon is waiting for us," said Marie, walking towards Sheldon's flying truck.

-Some time later, near Exalted Flame-

We all arrived about two kilometres away from the company. We are so far away from it, so that we won't be struck down by the building. Damn anti-air missiles. Right now, we are waiting for when it's night, and all of us are preparing ourselves mentally.

"(F/n)? Are you alright?" asked someone behind me.

I turn around and saw the Squid Sisters walking towards me and sit down next to me.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I responded as I look at Exalted Flame in the distance.

"Are you worried about this... operation?" Marie asked.

"Who wouldn't be? Exalted Flames is known for their weapon creation. I mean... look at me. I'm one of their rogue experiments," I said as I put my elbows on my knees and lean my head on my hands.

"Don't call yourself that," said Callie, placing her hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah, you may have been a rogue, but you're still a strong, you have your own mind and got a lot of friends now that he wish to help you," said Marie as she puts her hand on my other shoulder.

After a moment of silence between us, I decided that I should confront the two girls about their feelings.

"Girls, I think we need to talk about something. Just the three of us," I said in a serious tone.

"Is there something wrong?" Callie asked in a worried tone.

"No, nothing is wrong, but I think this need to be discussed. A few days ago, you two talked to Emily, right?" I asked to the two cousins.

"Yeah, what about her?" Marie asked.

"She was right. I did know that the two of you had feelings for me for a while," I responded.

I look at the girls and saw that the both of them were petrified.

"And I like both of you as well, but...," I started.

"But what?" Callie asked nervously.

"But I think that both of you can get someone better than. I'm dangerous, an experiment, a freak," I said to them in an almost a heartbroken tone.

I was about to stand up and walk away, but I was quickly hugged by both of the Squid Sisters. But what caught me of guard was that Callie was crying.

"Don't EVER call yourself that! We don't care what you are! We love you just the way you are!" Callie screamed as she continued to cry against you and holding you tightly.

"Callie's right. We don't care about what you are, but who you are. And you are a strong, smart and kind. Yes, you may be different, but what's wrong with that? Where's the fun in being the same than everyone else?" said Marie in a reassuring voice as she hugs both me and Callie.

This time, I was the quiet one as I'm trying to comfort the two girls the best I can.

"Girls? How... how about we continue this discussion when we're back at Inkopolis, alright? I'm not denying your feelings, it's just... I'm not sure how to feel. I've been some sort of soldier most of my life and... I never felled proper love before and I need some time to process it. Is that alright?" I asked in a hesitant tone.

"I can understand that, (F/n), and I think that's fair enough. Especially with what we're just about to do. What do you think, Callie?" Marie asked.

Callie just nodded, as she's trying to calm down from her little outburst.

"I-If it isn't t-to much asked, c-could we stay like this a l-little longer?" Callie shyly asked as she finally managed to calm down.

"Sure. I don't mind," I responded

And so, the three of us just sat there, waiting for it to become night time.
