A week has passed and I haven't seen the boys once.
Zach has texted me small talk a few times, but we haven't hung out since the party. I know the boys will be going on tour soon, and my college courses are becoming more and more vigorous, so it is probably for the better that we part ways again.
I'm about to leave for my workout when my phone buzzes- Daniels face popping onto my screen.
'What?' I think. 'Why would Daniel be calling me?'
"Hello?" I say into the phone.
"Em, Hi. Listen, are you really busy for the next month or two?"
"Uh..." I say into the phone, unsure what Daniel is about to ask. "Well... yeah I guess I don't have much going besides a few classes a week..."
"Great," Daniel says hurriedly. "Jonah fell off a rock when we were hiking and he kind of broke a leg and fractured an arm..."
"What!" I yell. "Is he okay! What about the tour!"
"Woah, Em it's okay, it's okay," Daniel says calming me down. "J's fine, hes just going to miss the first half of the tour until he's back on his feet."
That's when I remember how i'm involved in this.
"What do you need me to do?" I ask skeptically, afraid of the response I fear Daniel is about to give me.
"We're all going to be gone- our tour managers and literally everyone- so we... I, was wondering if you could stay with him, you know, until he can move around better?"
I squeeze my eyes shut. The last thing I feel like doing is babysitting Jonah for the next couple months, but I would be the biggest jerk in history to say no.
"Well, I guess I could," I say softly- still unsure of my self.
"Thank you so much, Emma!" Daniel yells into the phone.
"We owe you anything you want. A shopping spree? A new phone? You name it and it's yours."
I'm momentarily speechless, until I can muster the words, "I'm doing it because you are my friends Dani, I don't need anything as 'payment'."
Daniel sighs on the other end of the phone and says, "How is it that you're still single, Emma Kerry? You're infatuating."
I blush into the phone, and I reply, "What time should I be over?"
"Our flight is in a couple of hours, so around dinner time...?" Daniel asks skeptically.
"Sounds good," I say with a small smile.
"We love you so much," I hear someone yell- Jack maybe- into the phone.
I laugh and hang up, ditching my workout plan to pack a bag.

When I get to the Why Dont We house I grab the spare key- letting myself in.
"Jonah?" I call into the empty walls of the house.
"I'm on the couch," Jonah yells back to me from the living room.
I make my way through the house, plopping down on the couch next to Jonah.
"What's up?" I say trying to act normal, even though the current situation is nothing close to to it.
"I've been better, not gonna lie," Jonah says with a small laugh, "but i'm glad i'm not alone anymore. I was already so bored."
I smile at him and say, "Already dude? It's been like what? 3 hours?"
"Touché."
"Do you want something to drink?" I ask staring ahead at the tv.
"It's okay," Jonah says brushing it off.
"J, I don't want to baby you, but if I have to I will."
He turns to look at me with a surprised look on his face and he says, "Okay, okay, water sounds great!"
I smile to him replying, "Thank you Jonah," In a baby voice.
I jump off the couch and head into the kitchen to grab a bottled water from the fridge.
"Em?" He yells as i'm opening the fridge door.
"Yes?" I yell back, waiting for a response.
"Can you grab my phone? It's charging on the table," Jonah yells back.
"Sure," I reply searching for his phone.
I spot it and unplug the charging chord.
I don't mean to look, but my eyes float down to the screen.
There are tons of texts from girls, and I think 'he really hasn't changed'.
Jonah Marais is still the same play boy singer he was two years ago, and how could he ever change?
That's when it hits me.
Was I one of his play dolls? I guess the thought had crossed my mind a few times, but I always told myself that I meant something to him. But did I really?
If Jonah felt the same feelings I did, why would he still be such a player?
I close my eyes- leaving the dream state- to walk back into the living room.
I hand Jonah his water and his phone.
"I'm going to sit on the patio," I say walking away before he can respond.
I pull out one of the wooden chairs and stare at the pool.
All the drama and tears from two years ago come flooding back to me, and I make a list of exactly why I distanced myself from the boys.
It's because they drive me absolutely crazy.
It's because Jonah drives me absolutely crazy.
It's because all the pain wasn't worth it.
It's because I can't be in the same room with Jonah for more than 5 minutes before the achey feeling returns.
It's because I flipping love Jonah Marais.
It's because I always will.
I'm startled out of my haze by the sound of footsteps coming towards me.
I whip around- my eyes landing on a very handsome boy- nearly my age.
"Are you Emma?" Handsome boy asks me.
"Um..." I stutter. "Who's asking?" Dang it Emma. That was just terrible flirting.
To my surprise, mr. handsome laughs and replies, "Dylan Cornfield, miss."
It's my turn to laugh. "Well, you can tell Dylan Cornfield that I'm Emma, and I'm available through appointment only."
Dylan smirks at me. "You're funny."
I blush slightly, replying, "I try."
"I'm a friend of Jonah's," Dylan says sticking out his hand.
"Nice to meet you."
We kind of stare at each other for a few beats before Dylan adds, "I just dropped by to bring Jonah the go pro he left at my house."
"Cool," I reply with a smile.
"Oh right," Dylan says laughing slightly to himself. "I was sent out here to ask you a question..." He gives me a mysterious smirk and he wiggles his eyebrows upside down.
"Uh oh, now I'm scared," I reply smirking back.
"Jonah, dear Jonah, would like to know..." he stops, glancing at my awaiting face, "if you, Emma, would like... wait for it... Chipotle, or In n Out for dinner tonight."
I burst out laughing.
"That was the big question! That was actually hilarious!"
"I try," Dylan says mocking me from earlier with a goofy shrug.
"I have a question for you, Dylan Cornfield. Would you... wait for it... like to... wait for it... join us for dinner?"
Dylan smile melts into a sigh as he replies, "I so wish I could, but I'm expected at my Grandmas house for dinner..." He looks embarrassed, but I feel the opposite.
"That's adorable."
Dylan raises an eyebrow and he says, "You're the only one who thinks so."
I shrug and say, "Maybe you could make it another time?"
"I definitely could," he says with a smile. "I should get going, but it was very nice to meet you."
"You too," I reply with a no joke real grin.
Dylan's walking back towards the house when he stops and says, "Would it be weird if I asked for your..."
"720-445-5667." Dylan's face lights up with a smile.
"Talk to you later," I add.
"Yeah, see you..." Dylan says breathlessly, waking inside.

Jonah's Pov: Trying something new!

"Dude," Dylan says walking inside. "How are you not absolutely in love with that girl."
'I am, absolutely in love with her' I think to myself.
"She's not my type..." I reply. It's better to deny the feelings then be hurt all over again- when Emma inevitably doesn't feel the same way.
"I only talked to her for 5 minutes and I swear, Emma now owns my heart," Dylan says slightly breathless.
I just nod, because I know if I reply with words, those words would not be nice. I can't help but feel the pain of jealously when anyone mentions Emma.
"Would it be okay if I asked her out?" Dylan asks- taking me completely off guard.
"Wha... What?" My eyes widen with surprise.
"I just... I really felt this connection you know? She's awesome! And like... really hot too," he says with a wink. Thank god Dylan can't hear my thoughts. I seem pretty cool and collected on the outside, but my thoughts are screaming cruel and jealous thoughts at him.
"J?" Dylan says waiting for my response.
"So hot," I barely muster out.
"Thanks for introducing us, buddy," Dylan says patting me on the back. "See you later!"
Dylan walks out of the house- leaving me more confused than ever.
Do I still love Emma?
Yes.
Does she love me?
No chance.
