back in t-town

-:-:-:-

The first couple of weeks of the new year goes by quickly, and before I know it, it's nearly time for a new continent on tour. We still have two weeks left before the European tour, and with the four-day break between, there's not much left of the US and Canada for now. It's sad to leave again, but I love that I'll soon be at home, and with my country. I miss my mom every day, and I've been calling her before I go to bed every night even though it's in the middle of the night in England. She insists that it is okay, but I feel bad until I hear her voice and then I don't regret it for a second.

Nick isn't here right now, but he is coming back in a few hours, from staying with his family a little longer after new year's. It's been weird not having him around while on tour, but we've managed to handle ourselves quite well.

The shows have all been beautiful so far, and tonight is my Toronto show - the last one in Canada before we take one more trip to the states - which Aaliyah and two of her friends are coming to. Honestly, I couldn't be more excited to see her because it's been a while, and I miss her terribly. Manny and Karen are coming as well, but unfortunately Shawn had to go to a meeting in LA and can't be here now. We video chat or call everyday so we keep in touch, but I still wish he could have been here.

I debated whether I should stay at the Mendes' or at a hotel, but the hotel is much closer to everything, and it's where my team is after all. Aaliyah and her friends are getting a backstage tour before the show, and I'm really looking forward to showing her my world, even though she has seen Shawn's many times. They won't be taking a part of the usual backstage routine for the fans, but they'll come before everyone else, and stay until the opening act, where they are guided out to the front.

Right now, I'm being styled for the show. I'm wearing an emerald green velvet jumpsuit that has mid-length arms and wide legs. I love it because of the fabric that has a kind of glow-ish look to the velvet. It pairs nicely with my nude heels and the green makeup Jas is putting on me. I need to send Shawn a picture of today's look because I feel really sexy.

"You kind of look like a Christmas tree, A." That comment took away the sexy feeling and replaced it with hate. No, I'm kidding, just annoyance. I turn around to Gunnar - much to my stylist's dismay and annoyance - and I show him my middle finger in appreciation for the comment. "I mean it. Just a little glitter and you could have been taken straight from my living room. But don't you think it's a little too late for that?"

A thing that's new with the year is my opening act, Gunnar Gehl. He is two years younger than me and from the States, and he was discovered on the YouTube as well. He is really grown up (usually), and I'm excited to have him with me because we get along very well, plus he is such a talented person. Luckily, he will be with me for the whole European tour as well as the rest of this leg.

"You're a dick, Gehl." He just laughs at my reply and he seem to be having it extremely fun, nearly falling of the sofa he is sitting in. I turn back to him, letting Jas continue. "Sorry." I apologize once I see that I managed to smudge my gloss down my cheek. She goes straight back to work and within a minute I'm good to go, and she leaves to find Magnus.

"How's the bae, btw?" He boy asks, wiggling his eyebrows at me. He as the rest of the crew, knows my position with Shawn. And I find it refreshing that the people closest to me know, without the whole world knowing. The management has chilled about the weed and Shawn because I told them off after I fixed things with him, and apparently, they just want to protect me. He has told me that he will try to stop all, but that it might take time to get used to the idea when he's home alone and anxious.
