25: Conflicted

"H-hey Y/N?"

I broke away from Loki, feeling my lips as I looked up at Bucky. "Hey, what's up?" I asked.

"What could you possibly want now?!" Loki asked.

I sighed and shrugged at Bucky. "Can I help you in any nice way as opposed to Loki here?"

Bucky avoided my gaze. "Yeah, can I talk to you?"

I felt a bit nervous. "Sure Bucky."

As I went to walk to him, Loki put a hand on my arm.

I turned to look up at him. "What?"

"Be careful."

I smiled softly. "Sure."

I walked slowly to the door Bucky was holding open for me. As soon as we were out of Loki's sight, I turned to him. "What's a matter?"

He frowned, looking at the floor or anything but me. "I..." He trailed off.

I could now tell something was very wrong.

Bucky was never like this, shy around me. He always spoke his mind, or avoided me.

He never stood in front of me and stuttered. "

"D-doll, I-I just--seeing you with him I-" he stopped himself, running a hand over his face forcefully.

I stepped closer, pulling his hand down. "Breathe."

He stopped breathing so quickly and panicky. "Okay, okay."

I waited, nervously, for him to continue. But thanks to Tasha's lessons, I already had him figured out. "It hurts you. You're jealous."

He looked a little shocked.

"Why?" I managed, keeping my voice down in fear.

In fear of Loki hearing this, or by chance reading my mind or Bucky's.

Heaven forbid he read Bucky's.

"I don't think you want to hear the answer," Bucky said, now almost tearfully.

I felt awful.

Bucky and Loki were both totally misunderstood and beaten down, both needed love and affection.

I can't do so for both without angering the other.

Loki opened the door, seeing me and Bucky at a close proximity, his green eyes growing dark.

Bucky only looked down at me.

Loki figured it out right away, giving me a helpless and hurt look.

My feelings collided, and I found myself actually running down the hall to Tasha's room.

Neither followed.
