(Max’s POV)

We spent around half an hour at the playground, just messing about like little children. Like we used to be.

‘Come on, we best go.’ I said to Charl.

‘Okay.. Where we going?’

‘I’m not telling you.’ and I stuck my tongue out at her.

We climbed back into the limousine and set off to stop number 2.

After about 25 minutes, we arrived. We pulled up outside a restaurant. It was ‘Pizza Hut’.

‘I know it’s nothing special but I remember coming here for your birthdays since you were 8 until you were 15. We came every year, your family and mine.’

‘Max…’ then she paused taking in what I’d just said. ‘This is special. I have so many great memories of being here. And now I can add one more. Tonight.’

‘Come on. We’ve got a reservation for 6:15.’ and we walked in.

(Charlotte’s POV)

I couldn’t believe he’d remembered all these things. The limousine, the playground, my birthdays here. It reminded me how much I was going to miss him when we left, but I wasn’t gonna say anything about leaving yet. I didn’t want him to be upset when we were having such a good night.

‘Are you ready to order?’ a waitress asked.

‘Errm can I have a pepperoni pizza please?’ Max said. I knew that’s what he would have. It’s his usual.

‘Can I have a ham and pineapple pizza please?’ I asked.

‘That ‘s fine. Any drinks?’ the waitress asked.

‘Yeah just two diet cokes please.’ Max said. He knew that’s what I always had to drink whenever we came here. The waitress left and took our menus.

‘Max?’ I asked.

‘Yeah?’

‘What’s all this for?’

He paused then looked at me. ‘I wanted you to have a night to remember before you move to Nottingham. It’s also to apologise. I shouldn’t have ignored you after you told me. I was just upset and I didn’t know what I’m gonna do without you. But I know that moving to Nottingham is going to be better for you, your mum and Jake. I don’t want to lose you, Charl. You mean the world to me.’ he looked at me again with tear filled eyes. He looked away as the waitress came back with our drinks.

‘Max,’ I took hold of his hand, ‘Youre not going to lose me. We’ll still talk over the phone and text each other. And I’ll come back to visit dad so I’ll see you when I do.’

He just smiled at me. Then the pizzas arrived and he perked up, the way he always does when he sees food.

‘Oh, I had something to tell you as well.’ he explained. ‘I’ve been looking at some auditions for singing and I’ve found one in London for a boy band.’

‘That’s great’ I said to him. I knew how much he loved to sing. It was something he’d kept to himself when he was little but when he sing, it made him happy.

‘Will you come to the auditions with me? We’re allowed to take one person to sit in the audience for the auditions.’

‘Really? You want to take me? What about your mum?’

‘Yes really. I don’t want her to know about it yet.’

‘I’d love to Max.’ I said with a grin.

His face lit up. ‘Thank you. I’m so nervous. It’s in a months time.’

‘Okay. Just let me know what we’re gonna do.’
