(Charlotte’s POV)
So it had come to my first day as Steve’s secretary. Uncle Martin dropped me off at the office so I knew where I was going.
When I went inside I was greeted by Steve who led me to his office.
‘So do you know where you’re coming for tomorrow now? Haha’ he said to me.
‘Yeah I think so’ I said with a smile.
When we approached the office I saw a familiar hairstyle.
Jay turned around when the door opened, stood up and smiled.
‘Now I believe you two have already met, but today I want you to go into the city, Jay, I want you to show Charlotte round Nottingham. And Charlotte, you’re going to take this credit card and go shopping for some work clothes. You don’t mind do you Jay?’ Steve said to us both.
‘Yeah sure’ Jay replied and turned to smile at me.
‘Off you go then. A car’s waiting outside for you both and will take you anywhere you like. Oh and there you go Charlotte’ and gave me a company credit card.
(Jay’s POV)
I led Charlotte outside and got into the car. ‘Where do you want to go first, Charlotte?’ I asked her.
‘I don’t mind. I know Nottingham quite well because my mum’s family live here. And you can call me Charl. Charlotte sounds too formal.’ she replied. Her voice was so soft when she spoke.
‘Well do you just wanna go grab a coffee or something?’
‘Sure’ she said as she smiled the cutest smile I’ve seen.
I asked the driver to take us to ‘The Coffee Shop On The Corner’. It was my favourite place to go when I needed some time to myself.
We pulled up and got out of the car.
‘Ohh I love this place!’ Charl said.
I looked at her in surprise. ‘You do?’
‘Yeah. I used to come here with my grandma all the time. It was tradition. ‘Does Julie still own it?’
‘I think so’ I replied.
(Charlotte’s POV)
We walked into the coffee shop and Julie looked up. ‘Is that little Charley?’ she asked me.
‘Hey Julie’ I replied.
She came round the corner of the counter and embraced me in a hug.
‘I haven’t seen you in a while. How are you doing? How’s your mum and Jake?’
‘Oh we’re all fine thank you. Moved back here for a bit so I’ll be here more.’
‘Oh lovely. Well go take a seat. What can I bring over?’
‘I’ll just have a Hot Chocolate and a brownie please. And whatever Jay wants.’
I looked up at Jay. He looked a bit lost, like he didn’t know what had just happened. ‘Errmm I’ll just have a coffee and a brownie please.’ he said to Julie.
‘Sure’ she said with a smile and returned to the counter.
We found a table and sat down. ‘Sorry about that’ I said with a giggle.
‘Don’t worry. Did she call you Charley?’ Jay asked cme.
‘Yeah, that’s just her name for me.’
Julie came over with the drinks and left us to it.
‘So I know it sounds cheesy but tell me a bit about yourself’ Jay said to me.
‘Haha well, my name’s Charlotte Fawcett. I’m 21. I have one brother, Jake. I’ve lived in Manchester since I was born because that’s where my dad’s from but recently my mum and dad have been arguing a lot so they’ve decided to take a break. That’s why me, mum and Jake moved here because my mum’s originally from here.’ I told him. I know I don’t like talking about my mum and dad but for some reason I felt like I could tell him anything even though I’ve only just met him.
