(Charlotte’s POV)

‘So the people have said we can leave for a bit but we need to be back at 4 so we can find out if we’re through or not.’ Max said to me. ‘Which means we can go round London for a bit, like we’ve always wanted to.’

‘On the tour bus?’ I replied.

‘Whatever you want to do. My treat.’

I giggled and hugged him. I’d always wanted to see London by tour bus. And now we can. When I opened my eyes and was about to come out of the hug, I saw Jay coming through the doors. Then he saw me. ‘Charl?’ he shouted.

Max let go of me and turned around. ‘Jay! What you doing here?’ I said to him.

‘Could ask you the same.’

‘Max, this is Jay, the guy from work I was telling you about.’ I said to Max. ‘Jay, this is Max, my best friend from Manchester.’ I said to Jay and they both said hey to each other.

‘Jay you never told me you were gonna be down here this weekend.’ I said to Jay.

‘Well I didn’t want to jinx anything so I thought it was best not to tell anyone.’

‘You were really good,’ I said to him, ‘you both were amazing! If you don’t get through, they’re crazy to let you go.’

‘Well we’re just about to go out into London on the tour bus. Fancy coming with us?’ Max said to Jay. I liked that he was trying to make friends with Jay, maybe because Jay was a good friend to me in Nottingham.

‘Sure. I love the tour buses’ Jay said. Then we left in search for a tour bus.

*Few hours later*

After the tour bus, which was amazing, we got back to the building where the auditions were. Again, I had to leave Max, and now Jay, and go to the audience. I gave them both a hug and wished them good luck. They were both amazing so I knew they’d be fine, but it didn’t stop me feeling nervous for them. I walked off to the side and took my seat in the audience.

(Max’s POV)

Me and Jay walked through the double doors again and walked over to the corner where Tom was. Time was going past so slowly. Barely anyone was talking. I think we were all too nervous to even speak. I was just thinking about the time I’d spent with Charlotte. I’d had a great day. She loved every bit of it. I could just tell by the way she was acting. When she saw the London Eye, she looked in awe and when we went past Downing Street, she said ‘I wonder if the Prime Minister is in. Maybe we can call for tea.’ I loved this side of her. Jay is a great guy too. You can have a right laugh with him. I’m glad Charl has someone like him in Nottingham with her. But then my thoughts of the day were interrupted.

I’d noticed a few groups of guys go through to the stage before us. There was me, Tom and a few other guys that I didn’t really know.

‘Max!’ I looked round and it was Jay shouting me. ‘Good luck, mate.’

‘Thanks. You too!’ I shouted back to him and with that we walked onto the stage.

There was five of us, all lined up along the stages. I looked for Charlotte in the audience but I couldn’t see properly thanks to the spot lights.

‘Matt, Dan and Sean, can you step forward please?’ Jayne announced and they did just that. ‘I’m afraid you won’t be joining the band. I’m sorry.’

Oh my god. That was all that was going through my head. What if I didn’t get through? All this would have been for nothing. My palms were starting to get all sweaty and I could feel my heartbeat increasing.

‘Tom and Max, can you step forward please?’ Jayne said.
