(Charlotte’s POV)
For the next few days, Jay made a point of ringing me for a general chat, when we were at work. The conversation never really went anywhere. We just talked. He told me he had a twin brother, Tom, when his birthday was and just things like that.
It was Wednesday and the phone rang around the time that Jay normally rings. I picked it up and answered it. ‘Afternoon Jay’ I said.
‘Who’s Jay?’ the man replied.
I realised who it was. ‘Max?! Is that you?’
‘Yeah course it’s me.’
‘How did you get this number?’ I was in so much shock. This was my Max on the phone!
‘Errm you must have left your phone at home. Jake answered and gave me this number. Is it okay?’
‘Sure! It’s more than okay. How are you? I’m sorry I haven’t spoken in a while. Just been settling in and then starting this new job.’ It was good to hear his voice.
‘Don’t worry. I know you’ve been busy. I’m good thanks. Missing you. I was just ringing about London. You still up for it?’
‘Yeah course I am. You got everything sorted?’
‘You know me!’ he replied.
‘Haha I do. I’m coming home on Friday night.’
‘Good. We leave early Saturday morning. Can’t wait for a catch up.’
‘Me neither. Been too long.’
‘I know. Anyway I gotta go Charl. Finding songs for this weekend. Bye lovely.’
‘Bye Max.’

(Max’s POV)
I hate feeling two things at one. I was soo excited to see Charl. She was arriving in about 25 mins.
But then I also feel dead nervous about this audition. I love singing. It’s my life. But I’ve only really performed for Charl and I don’t know what’ll happen in London.
I sat in my room practicing, until I heard the doorbell ring. I knew it’d be Charl. I ran down, opened the door and she was stood there. ‘Hey you’ she said.
‘Don’t just stand there Charl. Come ‘ere’ and I held my arms out to her. She stepped into them and breathed out. ‘I’ve missed you’ I said to her.
‘I’ve missed you too sweetie’ she replied. She used to call me sweetie all the time.
We walked up to my room and sat on my bed. All we did was talk about everything that had changed in the short time we’d been away from each other. She obviously had more to say than me. Everything was new for her. She told me all about the new house, her new job and this Jay guy.
We talked for hours until Charl said she had to go. ‘My dad’s taking me for a meal out’ she explained.
‘Okay, well we need to be at the train station for 6am. Will you be ready?’
‘Yeah course I will’ she smiled. She was always so organised.
I went down to the front door with her and we said your goodbyes. Why was I upset? I was gonna see her in the morning.
