Katy Perry’s amazing voice woke me up at 6:30 the next morning; Part of Me was playing on my radio alarm. Four days of school left, five until the competition. I was determined to be the best surfer in my category and show the judges something they have never seen before, while at the same time get an A on all of my final tests. Sitting on my bed I shook off the sleepiness and stretched my muscles.
I let my mind wander to winter, to him more precisely, but put those thoughts aside as soon as I felt my head begin to get clouded with all sorts of ‘what ifs’ and ‘if onlys’.After a while of just sitting and gazing at the wall with such intensity I felt like my stare would burn a whole in it, I made my way to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and when I finished shrugged out of my pajamas. They consisted on shorts and an extra large shirt that was given to my dad a couple of years ago for volunteering at a beach clean-up day.
Lying on the bath tub I let the warm water kiss my skin while I read the latest Tiger Beat magazine. One Direction was in the cover, what a shock. I rolled my eyes and flipped through the pages reading small articles here and there. Nothing caught my attention for too long, except the embarrassing stories people submitted.
When I got out of tub I wrapped a towel around me and went straight to my closet. I decided on an Old Navy blue shirt and white skinny jeans. I slipped on my favorite pair of converse and turned towards the door. As soon as I opened it the smell of bacon made its way inside my room, filled my nose with its delicious smell and made my stomach sound. Eagerly I went downstairs and sat down on the kitchen counter.
My mom looked up and scowled “Good morning to you too.” She put her hand on her hip and stared at me. “Call me crazy but are you not forgetting something missy?”
“Oh right.” Jumping off of the counter I quickly made my way towards her and gave her a hug while kissing her cheek. “Sorry. I’m just too hungry.” I said smiling sheepishly.
“The eggs are almost done.”
“Great!”
“Honey would you mind getting the orange juice?” Mom asked as she filled three plates with eggs and bacon.
“Sure thing.” I said and skipped to the refrigerator at the same time that my dad came into the kitchen.

About half an hour later I stood in front of SC East High’s entrance waiting for Summer, and of course, Drew. It didn’t surprise me when I saw them head my way, stop right in front of me, mumble a ‘hey’and start making out. Lucky for me, the bell rang right away and they were forced to separate. Summer pouted and Drew glared at the bell with such ferocity I would have pissed my pants if I were that bell. But then, if I were a bell I wouldn’t have pants to piss. Whatever.
Walking cautiously through the hallway, trying not to step on any of the gazillion feet that were walking around, we reached the History classroom unharmed and surprisingly on time. Liam, Ryan and Jess were already inside. I took a seat next to a girl named Alice. I didn’t know her that well and we barely talked, but from what I knew she was a pretty funny and nice girl. She looked at me and smiled as I sat down on the desk’s chair.
“Okay class. Get ready for your exam.” Mr. Broody said closing the door at the same time that Nick, a total air head, crashed into it. That caused a lot of giggle and snickers to erupt from all of my classmates, including myself. “I’ll collect your essays at the end of the class. If you did not do them, forget them, or simply got late to class, like Mr. Jackson did, do not bother in doing your test because you will fail automatically. Are we clear?”
