New York City, At the enrollment facility.

"O'Conner, Michael, Kaminsky, Henry." A Doctor calls out.
"Boy, a lot of guys getting killed out there." Steve Rogers says holding a newspaper.
"Rogers, Steven." A Doctor calls out. Steve puts down the newspaper and stands up.
"It kind of makes you think twice about enlisting, huh?" A guy sitting next to Steve asks.
"Nope," Steve says flatly then walks over to the Doctor who called his name.
Steve is standing without his shirt in front of a Doctor to examine him for enlightenment.
"Rogers, what did your father die of?" The 4F Doctor questions Steve.
"Mustard gas. He was in the hundred and seventh infantry. I was hoping to be assigned-" Steve starts to say but is interrupted by the Doctor.
"Your mother?" The Doctor asks.
"She was a nurse in TB ward. Got hit, couldn't shake it." Steve says. The Doctor looks at Steve's file and sees that he has a long list of health problems.
"Sorry, son." The Doctor says.
"Look, just give me a chance," Steve says desperately.
"You'd be ineligible on your asthma alone." The Doctor informs Steve.
"Is there anything you can do?" Steve asks sadly.
"I'm doing it. I'm saving your life." The Doctor says as he stamps a 4F on the paper, and hands it to Steve.

Later Steve is at the movie theatre. A commercial about the war is playing before the movie.
"War continues to ravage Europe. But help is on the way. Every able-bodied young man is lining up to serve his country. Even little Timmy is doing his part collecting scrap metal. Nice work, Timmy!" The commercial announcer says happily.
"Who cares! Play the movie already!" Some jerk yells
"Hey, you wanna show some respect?" Steve asks quietly.
"Meanwhile, overseas, our brave boys are showing the Axis powers that the price of freedom is never too high." The commercial announcer says.

"Let's go! Get on with it! Hey, just start the cartoon!" The jerk continues to be loud and disrespectful.
"Hey buddy, you wanna shut up?!" Steve says louder.
The jerk gets up and looks at Steve.
"Together with allied forces, we'll face any threat, no matter the size" commercial announcer states.

The jerk takes Steve out of the theatre and into an ally, then starts beating Steve up.
"You just don't know when to give up, do you?" Loud jerk asks.
"I can do this all day," Steve says before the jerk punches him again.
"Hey! Pick on someone your own size" James Barnes yells from the other side of the ally with Magdalen Rogers (Steve's younger sister) beside him.

The jerk tries to attack Bucky but he moves out of the way and punches the jerk in the face and he runs off.
"Sometimes, I think you like getting punched," Bucky says smiling holding out his hand to Steve
"I had him on the ropes," Steve says taking bucky's hand.
"Steven Grant Rogers! What is wrong with you?! And what is this?!" Magdalen asks frustrated holding up an enrollment form.
"How many times is this?" Bucky asks Steve sighing taking the paper from Magdalen.
"Oh, you're from Paramus now?" Bucky asks again.
"You know it's illegal to lie on the enlistment form. And really Jersey?" Magdalen asks.
"You get your orders?" Steve asks
"The one-o-seventh. Sergeant James Barnes. Shipping out for England first thing tomorrow" Bucky says proudly.
"I should be going," Steve says disappointedly.
"And you will...one day," Magdalen says trying to make him feel better.
"Come on, man. My last night! Gotta get you cleaned up."  Bucky says excitedly.

"Why? where are we going?" Steve asks curiously.
"The Future." Magdalen and Bucky say at the same time smiling. Bucky hands Steve the newspaper he was holding. Steve opens it to see an ad for World Exposition Of Tomorrow, 1943.
