Chapter 3

"I don't see what the problem is. You're about to be the most eligible man in New York. You know. There are three and a half million women here." Bucky says smiling. "Well, I'd settle for one." Steve says happily then they turn to Magdalen "what kind of man do you want to be with Maggy?" Bucky asks. looking at her as she reads her book
"Huh? Oh, I'm good with my books. Thank you very much." She says smugly

"Right then. Well, it's a good thing I took care of that." Bucky says waving to two girls, Connie and Bonnie.
"Hey, Bucky!" Connie says happily.
"What did you tell her about me?" Steve whispers to Bucky
"Only the good stuff" Bucky whispers back smiling

"Welcome to the Modern Marvels pavilion and the world Of tomorrow. A greater world. A better world" the Expo announcer says through a microphone.
"Oh, my god! It's starting!" Connie squeals
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Howard Stark And Dr Amelia Erskine!" A woman on stage announces.
Howard enters the stage along with Dr Amelia Erskine and kisses the announcer while Amelia rolls her eyes

"I love you, Howard!" A random woman yells from the audience making Amelia laugh.

"Ladies and gentlemen, what if I told you that in just a few short years, your automobile won't even have to touch the ground at all" Howard yells at the audience as the girl helps take off the wheels of the car next to Howard and Amelia.
"Yes. Thanks, Mandy" Howard says to the girl he kissed.
"With Stark robotic reversion technology, you'll be able to do just that," Howard explains while he turns on the switch of his machine and the car starts to hover off the ground.
"Holy cow," Bucky says fascinated. Then the robots making the car hover suddenly malfunction and the car falls back on stage.
"He did say a few years, didn't he?" Amelia says then everyone laughed.

Steve stared at Amelia for a moment before walking away Magdalen behind him.
"Hey, Steve, Magdalen what do you say we treat these girls..." Bucky starts to say before he realizes their not beside him.

At a recruitment centre.

Someone is Standing in front of a mirror that makes you look like a soldier.
"Come on, soldier." A woman says to the man standing in front of the mirror before taking his hand and walking away. Steve stands in front of the mirror now, but he can't see all his face because he's too short.
"Come on, You're kind of missing the point of a double date. We're taking the girls dancing." Bucky tells Steve
"You go ahead. I'll catch up." Steve says sadly.

"You're really gonna do this again?" Bucky asks.
"Please. Steven, you can't keep doing this." Magdalen pleads.
"Well, it's a fair. I'm gonna try my luck." Steve explains.
"As who? Steve from Ohio? They'll catch you. Or worse, they'll actually take you." Magdalen informs.
"Look, I know you don't think I can do this," Steve says.
"This isn't a back alley, Steve. It's war!" Bucky exclaims.
"I know it's a war. You don't have to tell me." Steve says frustratedly.
"Why are you so keen to fight? There are so many important jobs out there." Magdalen tells Steve.

"What am I gonna do? Collect scrap metal..." Steve asks before being cut off.
"Yes!" Bucky And Magdalen say at the same time.
"...in my little red wagon." Steve finishes his sentence.
"Why not?" Bucky asks.
"I'm not gonna sit in a factory, Bucky, Magdalen," Steve says upset.
"I don't..." Magdalen starts to say.
"Maggy, Bucky, come on! There are men laying down their lives. I got no right to do any less than them. That's what you don't understand. This isn't me." Steve shouts.
"Right. cause you got nothing to prove." Bucky says.
"Hey, Sarge! Are we going dancing?" Connie yells from outside. Bucky turns to her
"Yes, we are," Bucky says smiling before turning back to Steve.
"Don't do anything stupid until I get back," Bucky says walking towards the girls.
"How can I You're taking all the stupid with you." Steve sasses. Bucky turns around and walks back over to Steve and Magdalen.
"You're a punk," Bucky says hugging Steve.
"Jerk. Be careful." Steve says seriously. As Bucky walks back over to the girls.
"Don't win the war till I get there!" Steve shouts. "If I find out you died out there, James Barnes I will kill you!" Magdalen yells. Bucky salutes.
"Come on girls. They're playing our song." Bucky tells the girls as they walk away.
