Chapter 13

The prisoners escape into the compound, overpowering the guards with their sheer numbers. Dernier picks up one of the new Tesseract-powered Hydra guns.
"You know how to use that thing" Morita asks as Dernier shoots, blowing up a wall
"Okay." Morita says in shock.

At the HYDRA Factory command center.

"What is happening?" Schmidt asks himself as he looks at the surveillance screen, then he pushes a button to sound the alarm.

Back to the prisoners.

Dogan and Jones overtake a small tank.
"Hey. Not exactly a Buick." Dogan says.
"That one. Zündung. (Ignition.)" Jones says pointing at the controls.
"Zündung?" Dogan asks confused. Jones jumps into the tank
"Get this thing going, Dugan!" He yells.
"I didn't know you spoke German." Dogan says to Jones.
"Three semesters at Howards, switched to French, girls much cuter." Jones explains.
"Didn't ask for the resume." Dogan jokes.

Back to the HYDRA control room.

Schmidt watches Steve, Magdalen and Amelia, and decides to activate the self destruct sequence. It starts to count down from 7 minuets.
"No, no! What are you doing?" DR. Zola asks panicked.
" our forces are outmatched" Schmidt explains. Dr. Zola looks at the screens then runs out of the room, leaving Schmidt there.

Where the soldiers are.

Dernier and Morita are running through the compound with the other prisoners.
"Keep moving! Grab those grenades!" Morita orders the other prisoners.

Where Schmidt is.

Schmidt secures the Tesseract while Zola packs the blueprints of his design. Steve, Maggy and Amelia see him in the corridor but hesitates to chase him when they hear someone. They walk to a door and open it to find Bucky strapped to a bed in one of Schmidt's testing labs.
"Sergeant. 3355..." Bucky says staring at the ceiling.
"Bucky? Oh, my god." Magdalen says as she and Steve rush over to him and unstrap him from the bed.

Bucky looks at Steve then at Magdalen.
"Is that..." Bucky starts to ask but Steve cuts him off.
"It's us, it's Steve and Maggy." Steve says smiling at him.
"Steve? Maggy?" Bucky asks confused.
"Come on" Magdalen says helping Steve hold Bucky up.
"Steve. Maggy." Bucky says again.
"We thought you were dead" Steve tells Bucky.
"I thought you guys were smaller." Bucky says referring to their change in appearance.

"Come on" Steve repeats as they walk out of the door to where Amelia was waiting.
"What happened to you guys?" Bucky asks confused.
"We joined the army." Magdalen answers him.
"Did it hurt?" Bucky asks curiously.
"A little bit." Magdalen answers.
"Is it permanent?" Bucky asks.
"So far." Steve answers. As they get to where Amelia is. Bucky looks at her.
"Who is she?" He asks Steve and Magdalen. Amelia walks over to them
"I'm Dr. Amelia Erskine." Amelia says quickly checking Bucky for any serious injuries.
"He'll be alright. But we have to get out of here." Amelia explains.

They start to flee through the exploding factory until they meet Schmidt and Dr. Zola.
"Captain And Sergeant America! How exciting! I'm a great fan of your films. So Dr. Erskine managed it after all. Not exactly an improvement, but still impressive." Schmidt says. Steve walks over to Schmidt punches him in the face hard.
"You have no idea." Steve says angrily.
"Haven't I?" Schmidt asks the goes to hit Steve, but he protects himself with his shield. As they fight, Dr. Zola pulls a leaver and catwalk they are standing on retracts to either side separating them.

"No matter what lies the Erskine's told you, you see I was their greatest success!" Schmidt yells as he peels off the skin on his face to reveal that he is the Red Skull.
"You don't have one of those, do you?" Bucky asks Magdalen and Steve, referring to Schmidt's now skinless face.
"You are deluded, Captain. You pretend to be a simple soldier, but in reality you are just afraid to admit that we have left humanity behind. Unlike you, I embrace it proudly. Without fear!" Schmidt yells as him and Dr. Zola start walking out of the factory.

"Then how come your running?" Magdalen asks. Schmidt and Dr. Zola continue their escape and so do they.
"Come on, let's go. Up." Steve tells Bucky as he and Magdalen help him up, then all four of them start to make their way out of the factory.
