Allied HQ in London.
A guard leads Dr. Zola into a cell and hands him his glasses, then walks out and locks the door. Dr. Zola walks around the cell. Then the door opens again and Phillips walks into Dr. Zola's cell with a tray of food in his hands.
"Sit down." Phillips orders as he sets down the tray of food. Dr. Zola sits down and looks at the food suspiciously.
"What is this?" Zola asks Phillips.
"Steak." Phillips answer simply.
"What is in it?" Zola questions.
"Cow." Phillips says while he sits in a chair in front oh Zola.
"Doctor, do you realize how difficult it is to get ahold of a prime cut like that out here?" Phillips asks Zola.
"I don't eat meat." Zola informs him.
"Why not?" Phillips asks
"It disagrees with me." Zola states.
"How about cyanide? Does that give you the rumbly tummy too?" Phillips asks as he turns the tray of food towards himself. "Every Hydra agent that we've tried to take alive has crunched a little pill before we can stop him. But not you. So, here's my brilliant theory." Phillips says taking a bite of the food.
"You want to live." Phillips tells him.
"You're trying to intimidate me, Colonel." Zola says.
"I bought you dinner." Phillips says as he passes Dr. Zola a piece of paper.
"Given the variable information he has provided, and in exchange for his full cooperation, Dr. Zola is being remanded to Switzerland." Zola reads it out loud.
"I sent that message to Washington this morning. Of course it was encoded. You guys haven't broken those codes, have you? That would be awkward." Phillips tells Zola.
"Schmidt will know this is a lie." Zola informs him.
"He's gonna kill you anyway, Doc. You're a liability. You know more about Schmidt than anyone. And the last guy you cost us was Captain and Sergeant Rogers' closest friend. So, I wouldn't count on the very best of protection. There's you or Schmidt. It's just the hand you've been dealt." Phillips explains.
"Schmidt believes he walks in the foot steps of the Gods." Zola tells him.
"Mmm." Phillips says.
"Only the world itself will satisfy him." Zola tells him.
"You do realize that's nuts, don't you?" Phillips questions him
"But the sanity of the plan is of no consequence." Dr. Zola says.
"And why is that?" Phillips asks.
"Because he can do it!" Zola exclaims.
"What's his target?" Phillips asks suspiciously.
"His target... is everywhere." Zola informs Phillips. He looks at Dr. Zola confused.
HYDRA main base.
Schmidt is addressing his soldiers.
"Tomorrow, Hydra will stand master of the world. Born to victory on the wings of the Valkyrie. Our enemies weapons will be powerless against us. If they shoot down one plane, hundreds more will rain fire upon them! If they cut off one head, two more shall take its place. Hail Hydra!" Schmidt says as he raises the glass he's holding. All his soldiers start saying 'Hail HYDRA' as Schmidt turns around and looks at all the soldiers.
In London.
Amelia's POV.
I was walking in a part of the city that was destroyed by bombs. I walk into what used to be the bar where Steve and Magdalen enlisted the Howling Commands. I followed the voice of a radio through the rubble.
"Blackout is still in effect throughout the London area. Please wait for the all-clear. Your attention, please. All citizens shall remain indoors until further notice. Blackout is still in effect throughout the London area." I heard from the radio.
I walked in through a broken and burnt door to see Steve and Maggy sitting at a table alone. Steve starts to pour a drink into his and Maggy's cups.
"your father said that... the serum wouldn't just effect our muscles, it would effect our cells. Create a protective system of regeneration and healing. Which means um...I can't get drunk. Did you know that?" Steve says as Maggy takes a drink.
"Yes. Your metabolism burns four times faster than the average person. We thought it could be one of the side effects." I explained as I picked up a chair and looked at Magdalen.
"I thought you didn't drink?" I ask her, she just shrugs her shoulders.
"It wasn't your guys fault." I tell them referring to Bucky dying.
"Did you read the reports?" Maggy asks.
"Yes." I answer.
"Then you know that's not true." Steve and Magdalen say trying not to cry.
"You both did everything you could." I tell them.
"Did you believe in your friend? Did you respect him?" I ask. They both look at me as if to say yes
"Then stop blaming yourself. Allow Barnes the dignity of his choice. He damn well must have thought you were worth it." I tell them.
"We're goin' after Schmidt. I'm not gonna stop till all of Hydra is dead or captured." Steve informs her.
"You won't be alone." I tell him with a small smile on my face.
