JAYDEN:

I focus on my breathing. This is last lap around the field as we finish off the cooling down part of today's football practice.

My body aches in anticipation to finish off for the day while the adrenaline still coursing through my veins encourages me to want to run another five laps.

Kris is seated out of sight under the bleachers with perfect view of the pitch and the field.

Not that anyone else is aware. Being last year's winner he signed me up for this year aware that we needed to make it clear how each of us can hold our own.

The last couple of days have been gruelling with all of the training and fights that have been taking place. The championships are something I intend to win this year not simply for the money but for the name.

The underground street fighting championship this year is being hosted on our territory and by winning we earn more respect with the other gangs. It encourages alliances to be built whilst acting as a deterrent to particular gangs who foolishly believe they can claim our territory.

As we gradually slow down the pace into a walk and I send off the players to the locker rooms.

"The boxing rink will be open all night; if you want to go over any particular techniques with me just give me a call and I'll be there." Coach says, giving me a pat on the back as he heads off to talk to the other players.

The championship finals will be on this Monday, a mere 2 and half days away. The win last night guaranteed my spot as one of the finalists for this year and as pleased as I am at how the work has been paying off I can't let my guard down just yet. I stretch out my limbs making my way over to Kris.

"YOU ARE SUCH AN ASSHOLE JAYDEN!"

My breath hitches and I find my heart begin to race as a dishevelled, angry little Jade runs her way towards me. If it wasn't for the rage seeping off of her I would have assumed she was a mirage.

I find myself backing away as her figure rapidly approaches me. The only way to prevent her getting curious about the street fighting was not to tell her. I didn't have it in me to lie to her hence, why I maintained the distance.

'You are screwed...' my conscious mumbles

I find myself running to get away from the angry munchkin. Somehow she still manages to close the distance between us to the point I stop. She doesn't look like she's going to give up any time soon and I think I owe it to her to actually listen.

Not having expected my abrupt stop she tackles me to the ground with an 'oomph'

I roll around so that I'm actually facing her and she sits up, straddling me without having realised it.

"You are such a bitch! How could you disappear like that without a word? Do you know how worried I was that you were hurt or that you just ran away or- or that something happened? And don't even get me started on Kris." She fumed, I find myself speechless. Did she really just swear?

"Jade I -" before I'm able to get a word in she throws a punch at my solar plexus, it was only soft so I didn't bother to block it, well aware of her hurt.

"No. I'm mad at you. I was so worried and then I hear that you're here in football practice and you couldn't have told me that? You should have at least told me you're alright and you just got something to do."

I wipe away a tear that slipped out of her eye before it can fall from her face. "I'm truly sorry for not letting you know Jade. I didn't realise you'd worry this much. I'm sorry sweet heart." I say quietly.

"Don't be cute with me. I still need to be mad at you for at least a day. I'm not letting you off the hook just like that." She sulks, pouting as she does so.

She stands, offering me a hand up. I take her hand softly using it to pull myself up but just as I am about to stand she lets go. I fall flat on my ass, a grim expression colouring my face.

She laughs, hiccupping as she does so. I find myself staring at her, as much as I would like to say I'm surprised, I'm not. Yet I'd gladly do it again if it could make her face light up like that.

"Okay that was mean... but you can't say you didn't deserve that Jay Jay." She giggles softly, this time outstretching both hands. I feel my heart warm at the childlike manner in which she muttered the endearment.

"I won't let got this time; I promise." She smiles sweetly, her eyes crinkling as she does so; I almost lose myself in the deep, chocolate coloured depths of her eyes.

Hesitant, I hold her hand in a somewhat firm grip and begin to pull myself up but true to her word she holds on tight and helps me up to the best of her ability.

"Just so you are aware. I am still mad at you okay. I'll get over it by tomorrow but like I said I'm not letting you off that easy." She conditions in a matter of fact tone.

"But you let go of my hand and made me fall flat on my ass... doesn't that count for anything?" I complain

"Nope; I still helped you up. Happy holidays butt face- I don't think you even realised winter break has started." She states turning to make her way out.

"Happy holidays secret!" I call out as she starts to turn away.

She turns "Oh before I forget, train hard, your coach told me you have an important football match coming up ... and I think you should let Kris know when I find him I'm going to kick his butt. I KNOW YOU'RE LURKING AROUND KRIS." She yells, glancing around as she does so.

With a final wave goodbye she sprints off towards the exit.

I feel Kris's presence behind me and I turn to see him chuckling soundlessly. "You really left me alone on this one bro." I complain

"I don't think she's going to let me off either Jay." Kris shrugs gazing at what is now a small silhouette of Jade.

"You think Dino let it slip that we're here?" I wonder

"Oh I know it was the fool. Isaac never lets anything slip. But you know how charming Jade can be when she wants." Kris muses.

Then like a switch flipped Kris turns talk back to strategizing.

A/N:
So I know it was quite a wait and this is pretty short for a typical chapter off me but at least I was only a month this time right? I really need to work on my update timing... but I did refine my wording chapters 1 to 6 again.

Just so you guys are aware I do have a couple things going on at the moment which is why I'm updating so infrequently... I am however working on the remaining of this so that is taking a lot of the time I would spend updating here.

below is something a little more lighthearted that happened this month:

So my mum asked me to do a job for her n bear in mind I've been helping out so much already for the past 4 days and I'm tired now i said no.

2 minutes later the orchid plant on the window sil above my head tumbles onto my head and soaked me with water. I screamed and jumped up while my mum said it was karma and laughed for a good few minutes at me.
