JADE:

He (Jayden) wraps his warm arm around my waist, pulling me closer, as he leads me to the makeshift dance floor. I don't know how to react so I just allow him to take me.

The song playing is classical which Is why he pulls me so that I'm face to face with him.
"I can't do the waltz properly..." I mumble, face falling as I do.

He brings his hand forward and lifts up my chin so that I'm looking up into his deep eyes. The green more prominent almost fighting with the brown for more space; they glow bright.

I'm frozen in place, glued to the spot unable to look away from his hypnotic eyes, it wasn't until now that I realised rather than a warm brown his eyes are a combination of brown and green.

"I'll lead, just follow and you'll be fine."

"What if I fall." I whisper having lost the ability to raise my voice any higher.

"I won't let you fall."

I feel every part of me warm and become aware of his touch and the way his minty breath plays with my hair as he circles me and lifts me here and there. I'm pretty sure this isn't exactly how the waltz goes. His arm tight around my waist; my hand on his sculpted shoulder, the other engulfed in his hand; his chest flush to mine.

He loosens his hold on me his eyes flick to something behind me. He smiles, the kind of smile that result in the small crinkles around his eyes that spark behind those long lashes of his. I find myself entranced. He should smile like that more often.

My heel slips and I lose my balance. I'm going to fall! I go backwards, away from Jayden; I squeeze my eyes shut and keep my mouth closed not wanting to see him stop smiling like that because of me screaming. I clamp my eyes shut anticipating the fall...

I don't fall. Jayden hovers an inch away from my face; a mixture of amusement and relief, lines his face.
"I promised I wouldn't let you fall." A ghost of a smile hovering on his plush lips.

I hear a giggle only to realise it's coming from me.
Why am I laughing?

Maybe it's the relief of not falling. Or of being so clumsy... Or maybe it's something else.

"You should smile like that more often." I state once I've sobered a bit.

"What?!"He seems surprised at my statement but I don't see why.
I barely hear him mumble "she noticed." To himself.

Before I question him on it he takes me away from the dance floor. "We want you to meet someone." Jayden explains

I nod in understanding.
"Why have you brought me to Kris" I already know Kris...

"Meet Hannah. She is Kris's date and one of our best friends" Jayden introduces.

"Oh... Hello!" I greet, she takes in my appearance. Was that a flash of recognition i saw? She lights up easing my worry of her not liking me.

"So you're the mysterious Jade! It's a pleasure to meet you." She pulls me in a tight embrace as if we're long lost friends who finally foubd one another.

"You already know me?" I stutter, flustered at not knowing her.

Hannah is approximately 5 Foot 5, the black pump heels she's sporting boosting her up a few inches. Her long brown tresses tumble around her while the front part of it is pinned back giving her a sophisticated look, her deep eyes glitter against her pale complexion, in excitement as she too takes me in... I pale in comparison to her radiance.
