Chapter 40

KRIS:

We all watch in amusement as Jade rushes out the school exit. Jayden and I turn to Jonghyun and Krystal in explanation of what just happened but they share bewildered looks. Rather than replying they focus their attention solely on Jayden.

"What did you do?" I find myself smirk as they both question in synch. They're a couple in the making.

Curious, I turn to Jayden. He just shrugs confused.

"She was being weird since lunch... she was with you at lunch. Explain!" Krystal practically demands.

"I don't know- I was just teasing her?" I analyse his expression with Jong and Krystal. The slight smile quirking the corner of his lip says otherwise. He may be genuinely perplexed by Jade's running off but the way his eyes shine makes it obvious he knows something.

I lightly smack the back of his head and slide so that I am facing Jayden with Krystal and Jonghyun beside me. "You're lying." I announce quietly

Krystal jumps forward, grabbing Jayden by the collar "Spill!"

Jonghyun slips his arm around her waist, gently tugging her away. He gives her a soft smile despite the fact she can't see it.

Jayden readjusts his collar chuckling at the pair. Aware of the fact that we won't be dropping the subject anytime soon he sighs.

"She may or may not have challenged me and I may or may not have kissed her." he rushes out- fast enough that if we weren't paying attention we would have missed it.

He momentarily loses his composure, doing what I call his happy dance. Jong and I send identical 'you're whipped' smirks while Krystal starts to fan girl. Jayden smiles sheepishly while we break out laughing.

He scratches the back of his neck while we congratulate him. Krystal keeps babbling on about some 'ship' which Jong joins in... the two of those are just nerds. Even though I may not be very vocal about it I'm very pleased. I think they're a good match.

We all head outside heading towards the milkshake shop as Jong's treat. I chuckle as he boasts about his employee discount. Krystal's eyes gleam as he mentions the range of chocolate and desserts available.

I text Isaac to meet us there for an hour or so before turning to glance at Jayden, whose also on his phone.

"Isaac?" I question regarding the messages app open on his phone.

"Isaac" he responds.

ISAAC:

"Try closing your eyes." My mother suggests in an attempt to help me focus. It's been a long day and my patience is now beginning to wear thin with the amount of pressure that has been placed upon me.

I feel everyone's eyes on me.

I know they want me to eventually join the elders alongside my grandmother but I don't want this ability to be the only thing defining me. 

I know the guys are heading to the milkshake place and they'll be texting me soon so I take a deep breath concentrating. The quicker I get this over with the quicker I get a chance to take a break. I think about the colour blue darkening into a raven black colour eventually fading into a soft brown colour.
