7 Years Old

Virgil's POV

Lizzy was starting 2nd grade in the next two days. And currently she was having a sleepover, at our house, with Lucy and Alex. Those two have been the only other kids she will talk to. And I'm glad she finally made a few friends. 

We started a new tradition with Lizzy too. On the first day of school, Roman and I used to spend the night at each others house. With Lizzy, on the first day of school, well the night before, we tell her a story. She has called it Story Time, and it's adorable. The last story we told her was when I received that stuffed animal we have both learned to love, 'Mr.Biggelsworth the 4th'. And this year we plan on telling her one of our many Halloween stories. But I already have one in mind.

The kids still had an hour before bed, so they were running around and burning energy. Roman and I were in the kitchen cleaning a little bit, they just had dinner. While we were cleaning we heard a shriek, we dropped everything we were doing and quickly walked into the living room.

"I got you!" Alex had his arms around Lizzy's waist and lifting her slightly up off the ground. Lizzy's cheeks were red and she was giggling. Lucy came around from behind Alex and walked in front of her.

"You can't just run off like that, I was going to tag you." Lucy said through a smile.

"But I didn't want to get tagged." She couldn't stop giggling. 

"Alex let me down." That smile never left her face. Rosie was barking but she didn't dare jump on a child. Lucy poked Lizzy and said tag.

"Why should I?" He had a sly smile on his face.

"Because Im it, and now you are." She said through a smile.

"Okay, break it up." I intervened.

"Yeah, let's put her down and calm down a bit." Roman said.

"Why, we were having fun." Lucy whined.

"All your faces are red, and you look tired. I think you should calm down." I looked at Lizzy, who had a smile on her face, all three of them did.

"Alright, but lets watch a movie." Lizzy said excitedly.

"What movie?" I asked walking over to the stacks of Disney movies we owned.

"Bambi!" They all three said at once.

"Well, at least it was an easy decision." Roman laughed. I put on the movie, and they all sat down. They all sat on the couch, close together. Lizzy was in the center, Lucy on her left and Alex on her right, he was against the arm of the couch.

"How can you all stand being so bunched up?" Roman asked them.

"We're not standing, we're sitting." Lizzy said looking up at us. I laughed at her because she wasn't wrong.

"What ever, we will be back soon." We walked back into the kitchen and started cleaning again. We had music playing quietly so we weren't listening to nothing. Right as I was about to start doing dishes Roman came up behind me, wrapped his arms around my waist, and started swaying to the music, causing me to sway with him.

"Whatcha doing Roman?" I asked with a smile.

"Im dancing." He whispered. I leaned my head back so I was leaning on Roman. We didn't get much time to ourselves because of Lizzy, and cleaning, and planning things to do like sleepovers, and Roman occasionally getting a job with a play in town. But I was happy with our life.

"I love you." I said quietly.

"I love you too." We stayed like that for a while. And when the song changed I spun around and surprised him with a kiss.
